38. Breaking Forth Through Innovation 1

Welcome to track number 38th of Break Forth and become who you can become. From where you are, only you can see and have and do what you have. Do you understand what I'm saying? Yeah. But because you you lack the ability to see what things are hidden. You lack the ability to move on and to improve, make something better. So when Samuel from Zebular was asked what innovations does he have for his church or that he started to say something you see, but he said this innovation is a discovery by the people, for the people. So as they ask you the question right now, how have you made a discovery just now as they are just asking. So what they are going to say is just some notes that you have. So you must discover to recover. Amen. First step to innovation is number one. Find out the opportunity that exists. Discover any opportunity any way. Is there any way in Zebula? Is there any opportunity in Zebula that is not in Accra? They need opportunity in Mali that is not in Ghana or in Burkina that is not in Ghana, Burkina Faso. What do they have there? Tomatoes. There are tomatoes. And what all kinds of vegetables do they export? Do they have a tomato factory? Strawberries. But you see, a white man will come to Africa and see the opportunities all over the place. Have you ever wondered why a lot of Lebanese people are here and a lot of Lebanese Indians? They are sears of opportunities. And it's not only in Ghana, in Malawi, in Zambia, in Kenya, hundreds of them. They can see that. Oh, you know, and I think I had this owner of this hotel say once, I think I've heard it say on television, it's easier to make $1,000,000 in Ghana than to make it in America. He has lived there and he has worked here. But it takes an innovator to see what others are looking with their hand, their tongue sticking out like a Down syndrome or an ape. We stare at it with our teeth, scratching our teeth and smiling, rolling over when an innovator will rise up and say that these coconuts can be useful, but I, like an innovator, would have just cut all of them down. You see, cut it off and cemented the place. But you see what I'm saying? It's supposed to help you to see yourself in a practical way. It's not intended to criticize something because I can tell you, criticizing Ghana, criticizing the existing leadership will not change it. Becoming a politician yourself will also not change it. These two things will not change anything. This is probably the reason why I have greatly greatly, greatly reduced my teaching on leadership because I have I have the feeling and the knowledge that I will just be criticizing because every bad example, I mean every example of what you should not do what will not work as a leader. Do you understand is found in Arctic and you can see from these secular things, ape, deaf and dumb poverty riches. The examples are US and it's very worrying and it almost look like you are if you don't think I like you are speaking down on some people. Privatize it, shed the track before the train, the roads. They are collecting tolls, bridges, you know, And in England, in London now they will say that traffic is too much. So they, they put cameras at various places and say when you pass here, you pay a congesting charge, you are congesting the city. Don't bring your car here. So as soon as you pass, it's an idea. And the mayor of the city introduced, people criticized, introduced it, everybody passed. It started with how much, 8 lbs. Now it's how much 10 started with five, then 8, then now 10 lbs. When you drive through, no. When you cross, so they photograph you, you owe them 10 lbs. And they started to earn millions. So with a new idea of how to maintain the City of London. So what we need are innovation, something new. And say somebody says this is an opportunity. A lot of cars, even. One of the things that occurred to me by trying to be an innovator, when I sit by that sea and I see the water moving, I say, look, there is an energy in the water that is moving big volumes of water up, down, up. Since we came, it has never even less. I'm feeling tired or it has cooled down a bit. So it makes me think, and I wonder why that energy has never been utilized by mankind because it's such power. And you ask yourself, what is making it move? It's as though the Earth is shifting like this. It's shifting with strength. Look, if you get into one of those way, no matter how one of the dangerous place to swim is this way, you see the rocks never go. Even if you are walking on the rock, you be careful. If you snip and you go in the strength, it just throws you against and smash your your head. There are people who have been known to be taking pictures on the next moment they have the water and all of them are dead. It happened in UCC. So you've got to be careful. Are you there? So, brothers and sisters, Lebanese people come to our town and they see, oh, Ghana, I think a supermarket can work. Let me do it. OK, Ghana. Pizza shop can work, then they do it. And they see the opportunities and we sit down and then one day you get a leader who write and say, oh, these foreigners are the cause of all approach. They are. They are corrupt. They are this. They are that. That is what Idi Amin did. He sacked all foreigners, Indians. There's a lot of Indians who are in England today. They came from Uganda. Their parents were driven out of Uganda within a few hours. Are you there? Yeah. So I want to ask you if you are an innovator where you are in Nigeria, there is opportunity there that is not in Ghana. In Ghana, there are some opportunities that are not in America. In America there are opportunities that are not in Zambia. The only place of opportunity is not or America is not the only place of opportunity. Let me tell you something. If you see a white man who has lived in Africa before, he never goes back to his country, which is a is something that should stir up your, your, your, your what? It shouldn't make you scratch your teeth or roll over. It should ask you why don't they go back? Example, for instance, my mother. My mother has lived in Ghana since 1963 and her husband died about 1415 years ago. Why is she still here? Yeah, apart from that, so many foreigners, when they are here, they don't go back. Zimbabwe, they'll take their land, they go back and you ask about why don't you just go to England? Because there are many opportunities. One guy in Zimbabwe, my mother was telling me, I think he's from Switzerland. They took his farms and everything. He's gone back. Now he's found another way to come back to Zimbabwe to bring solar electricity. So it's coming to do some solar. I said there's a big opportunity for solar power in Zimbabwe, in Africa. So he's coming back. They're taking his farm back. He doesn't want to stay there at all. Is this ability to see? That's what I'm trying to say, that there are always hidden things to be seen, but it is innovators who are able to see those things that are there that everybody cannot see. Even if you take a singer, you may see that. It may be an innovator who can identify that this person can sing and you may have even a better singer that's you will never use the person to do anything more than praises. And many times, sometimes rich people are good receivers. But sometimes when you are intended for poverty, destined for even when the person says you are this and the person says you can do it. And the person says I like you, you say no, you don't like me. You are lying. You are just giving raps. So innovators they are able to see that you could be. And I remember the first day I saw her singing and I said who come and sing? She came to the cathedral and she sang, but the singing didn't work. It did not work. Can you imagine the kind of power that is at work that we just take for granted and see biologically, thinking it through that if there is such power, how can we convert that power into something that we can use? What do you think? Yeah. If the person can sing in school, can the person not sing on the stage in the cathedral? If the person was not able to sing in the cathedral, what are the factors that are preventing the person from singing well in the cathedral? What do you think? Huh. Yeah, strong logical thinking if. Land is free and plenty and is not being used in the north flat plain and a golf course needs flat or not even flat. But land free and a golf course is made-up of from here to here. What prevents me from having a golf course and using the land to make a golf course for myself? In the north? It's not about that. That's why when a white man comes to a place where there is Samurai Boy Abwasi, only white people build golf courses. Basically only the white people where where are the golf courses? Tafo. What is in Tafo that make somebody make a golf course? Coco Research Institute, Cape Coast Taqwa, the gold mines, everywhere they go, they look at they say why not? And you see the place. There's just a normal, the old trees that were there, they just are in. From here to here is whole one. From here to here is whole 2. From here to here is whole 3. And they make a golf course. So you see there's some characteristics. People see things, then they think logically. They see what others don't see and they think logically. Are you listening, Richard? Think about it. Let's apply ourselves to Richard. What strong logical thinking can we use in the case of Richard? You live where? In the Volta region. Beautiful town, isn't it? We are trying to innovate now in case where we go. So, oh, innovation, there are three steps. Number one, you see the opportunity #2 you do this. Number three, and you will never innovate. So everybody, let's us help this man to come up with an innovation. The third step actually maybe should have been the second step, is to have tactical knowledge. Tactical knowledge that comes by moves, certain moves. So three things, tactical knowledge about Richard and about Hawaii 2. To do what? See the opportunities others cannot see. Three is 1. Very strong, logical thinking. Good. What tactical knowledge do you have about Richard? We are trying to innovate and make him a rich man. OK. Koala, topping town, Anglo gold, Accra mall, quick pick ShopRite. Anything that is working successfully with profits is owned by, not a Ghanaian, a mobile. But when you go to Switzerland, there is no business that is owned by a foreigner. You cannot come and be a foreigner and get a business there. You, you lie bad, you lie bad. The local people are seeing the opportunity among themselves. You see a mountain, a mountain in Switzerland. You see that treasons. They are making aeroplanes inside the mountain. They'll take off into the mountain like that and come out. You'll be driving by flowers behind it. They are making weapons. One of the major exporters of weapons is Switzerland. So they, they they saw the opportunity to make themselves a neutral country. When they finish having the peace talks, then they come aside. The weapons dealers, Swiss ones, they they buy tanks, aeroplanes, whatever. Yeah, just to both sides. I just want my money. That bomb that they, that bomb that they used to bomb the Panama that fell in Lockerbie, the timing device, the bomb timing that was made in Zurich, the making Swiss, Swiss people, they have to, they call Swiss army knife. They have Swiss military. There is something called Swiss military. There are a lot of even souvenirs for the Swiss military. The peaceful loving nation, always neutral, has never joined any war anything. It is known for its army and its military banks. They have nothing, but they have they are seeing things. One day I was driving to the town. I said why are we going to park? So we are going to park under the water. And right there in the town there's a lake. The car park is under the lake. You go down ground 123456 under the the water. That's where they could find space. And we are saying taxi there to say police car and to me parking and to me, Gina to meet your C, to meet your U, to meet your S, to meet your Bibiara. We should rise up and let's see the opportunities that are in our own country. Uh huh. Tactical knowledge. In Avrongo we have the. We have land, basically. Land so you can make a golf course. Yeah. OK, two possible. What does you have? Two, we have this company called ICO in Cuma build a very big dam and then there are large strains of farm lands where they irrigate the water from the dam several kilometers away. And then what they do is you come there, you rent the land and then you do your farming and then when the season is over, they take the land back from you unless you go in, depending on the contractor you sign with them. So logical thinking you could do, you could use some of that land. Yeah. Instead of sleeping the house, you do someone scratching your head and saying dependency thinking, send us some money. That's true. Roll over. Yeah. Tactical knowledge. I can also do fish farming in the dam because it's very big. Fish farming you can take a section of the of the dam. Yeah, they have the very big dam and then they have what they call is the voice, all of us. So it's very big. You can do rent one and do fish farming inside on the water. You can also put some skiing boats for tourists to come because there are a lot of tourists foreigners there so you can also. A lot of foreigners in Avrango. Yeah, and. What are they doing there? Do you know that KLM comes to Ghana every day? British Airways comes every day, Lufthansa, Alitalia, Emirates, almost all of them come almost every day and they are all full. Fantastic. Isn't that fantastic? And you ask yourself where are they going and what are they going to do in their country? They have seen something with logical thinking and tactical knowledge. Sit down thinking now this man, nobody has found anything to do in the Volta. Could that be why the Volta region is one of the poorest region? Because we are not a rice farm? Yes. Bishop, I think in the North End, in some of these places, the Volta region, the opportunities are there, but what we need. To do. Is to network very well. For example, in why I noticed that when there's a a program, maybe any program and people have to come from the South, all hotels are booked, all hotels are booked. People have to go as far as drop or go and look for guest houses and stuff like that. But I don't have the money to build a hotel. I took the money bought for him, found an architect for him designing hotels, I mean a hotel with swimming pool, I mean, across standard hotel. So the idea can be there, but we need association, we need to network, we need synergies. So in the in the water, yeah, I mean, I know there are opportunities, but sometimes you have the idea, but you don't have the money. So. But we are, we are, we are lacking the idea even first. For for me, I also have a teaching background and I'm also thinking that a school will also work because I realized that most of the schools that say that they are bilingual, that teach in English, they don't really teach the English. Basically, I know some of them come for, they just buy the land and they build and they just live there. You can sit down, gentlemen, ladies #1 Advancing technology 2. Changing environment 3. Changing industrial structures and strategies 4. Evolving Society 5. Evolving customer desires 6 Competitors improve their products and processes all the time, and seven customers stop buying your old products and services. You need to replace them and add new products and services. Did you get it? Was it too fast? OK #1 Advancing Technologies 7 reasons why you have to innovate You have to innovate because advancing technologies will make the old ways almost useless #2 Changing environments make old ways useless 3. Changing industrial strategies make old ways useless #4 Is it too fast #4 Evolving society make structures make evolving society means you have to innovate #5 Evolving customer desires The desires of customers of members evolves. Isn't it their desires? In Ghana, I would say the desire for money has become more in the church because of the general economic situation and hardships. The next one competitors. Competitors to your church, competitors to your little business are constantly improving their products and services. Antenna you also have to innovate and last of all, customers stop buying old products. Is it not true? 7 things that will happen to you if you do not innovate #1 Customers will stop buying your products #2 sales will drop and we would say attendance will drop, revenues will drop. That means offerings will drop, shareholder returns will drop, which means tights will drop, stock price drops. That means that your chat building will get older. Need painting renovation. Isn't it key employees leave? This is what happens when you don't innovate. Many people walk out and #7 more and more customers stop buying your products and your services. Are you there? You got it #1 Customers stop buying your products. 2 Sales drop, which is attendance drop. 3 Revenues drop, which is offerings drop #4 shareholder drops, which is what tights drop #5 stock price drop, which is any building equipment you have. The value keeps going down and it keeps getting spot. Yes, when you don't think of a new idea quickly you begin to lose your tides and all those things and it and the last of all, more key employees leave, main people start to leave.
