Dr. David de Plessy was our guest yesterday on the broadcast, and we have him back again today sharing his deep spiritual experiences with you. May I present the man called Mr. Pentecost. Here is Dr. David de Plessy. For in Vatican Council, I asked them who is head of the Church. They said, don't you know the Bible? I said, yes. Well, they said, doesn't the Bible say Christ is head of the Church? Yes, and I believe that. But I want to know what you believe. Well, we believe that too. I said, and the Pope? He's only the vicar of Christ. Oh, I said, I understand. Now then, I want to ask you, Christ is head of the church, and Christ is the baptizer in the Holy Ghost. You don't have to leave the church to get this blessing. Just go to the head. Don't bother these fellows in the middle. It's the middle man that puts up the prices, you know. Just go to the Lord, and Jesus, the baptizer, will baptize you. And you'd be surprised how many Catholic priests and professors have accepted my challenge and went to Jesus and said, Lord, baptize us also. And in the dialogue, Five great Catholic theologians have received this blessing. So Cardinal Willebrand says to me, are you always on the winning side? I said, no, Cardinal, I'm always on the Lord's side. Well, he says, we didn't want you to bring Catholic Pentecostals here, and now look what's happened. Our theologians have become Pentecostals. I said, I had nothing to do with it. I told them what Jesus does. If you want to blame anybody, you blame Jesus. And I warn you, he's head of the church. He can do as he likes. And I've had no difficulty. I'm accepted. After I met Pope Paul, I said, now I've heard there's a black pope. He's not black and skinny, only wears black clothes. He's the general of the Jesuit order. Father Pedro Arrupe, I went to visit him. And if ever I met a saint, that man is a saint. He knows the Lord, and he said to me, I am greatly honored that you, of all people, you should come and see me. Oh, but I said, I am delighted at the way that you have encouraged your Jesuit brethren to accept this blessing. Oh, he says, I want all of them to get this blessing. And I want you to visit me as often as you can and help me. And if nobody else has given you accommodations, you come and stay with me. Think of it. I can stay with the head of the Jesuits. He's not afraid of me, and I'll assure you I'm not afraid of him either. But David, couldn't you be led astray? No. David, don't you know there's a danger of a super church? I said, I don't know about the danger of a super church. You're not afraid of a super church? I said, no, I'm in one already. You are in a super church? Yes, I said. And the head of my super church is a super man. His name is Jesus. I belong to the Christ church, the Christian church. The church of Jesus Christ is the head. The Catholics say he's head of the church. I went to Germany. And the Lutherans say he's head of the church. And I smiled. I said, you know, it's a funny thing. You broke away from Rome, but you took the head with you. You got the same head. The Calvinists say Christ is head of the church. The Methodists say Christ is head of the church. The Baptists say Christ is head of the church. And now I advise all of them to go to the head of the church and let him minister to them. What? What he ministered to on the day of Pentecost to the church. Any Catholic I ask, how far back do you want to go for renewal? Back to Jerusalem where the church began and where they could say it seemed good to us in the Holy Spirit. I'm afraid my other brethren sometimes give me the impression that the Lutheran wants to go back to Luther. The Calvinists go back to Calvin. The Methodists go back to Wesley. And so I would say to them, but the church did not begin there. Go back to where Jesus did it all. Tonight, in closing here, as I said, I'm not asking people to come forward that I can pray for them. If you say to me, I want to be saved, I said, you know, you say that to Jesus, he can do something at once. But to say to me, I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything about it. But you could pray for me, and you mean you can't talk? Oh, I can talk. Why don't you talk to Jesus then? Ministers come to me and say, David, we have heard you, and now. We are ready. We are open for this blessing. Will you pray for us? I said, why must I pray for you? They said, we want the baptism. But I said, I'm not the baptizer. I cannot baptize you in the Holy Spirit. A Catholic theologian said to me, David, give me the baptism too. I said, I cannot give it to you. He says, can't you lay hands on me? And pass it on to me. I said, no, this doesn't come by apostolic succession. But if you get it, you'll have apostolic success. I don't worry about succession. I worry about success. And thank God for the success that has come into the ministry since they accept the power of the Holy Spirit. Ministers say, but David, we want you to pray for us. I said, brethren. aren't you on speaking terms with Jesus? And I ask you Christians tonight, are you on speaking terms with Jesus? Yes. Then tell him you are open for the blessing. And so we'll close with prayer. But I want to pray with you. I'm not praying for you, but I'll join you. and pray with you that you tonight will be willing to accept that drink of living water. That's what Jesus called it. This spake ye of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive. And he says, if you've had your drink, you've got a well that'll never, never dry up. Never dry up. And I want to say to you folks who had your drink, who have accepted salvation from Jesus. Please don't tell me you are not full of the Holy Ghost. Then you don't believe what Jesus said. He said a drink and you will have a well bubbling up. You're as full of the Holy Ghost as you'll ever become. But the baptism in the Holy Spirit is something else. He said, you shall receive power after the Spirit is come upon you. And when he came upon Jesus like a dove, not a feather got into him. The dove remained on him. He was full of the Spirit from his birth. Now the Spirit has taken over his life. You are full of the Spirit the moment Jesus is your Lord and Savior. And after that he becomes your baptizer. The same Jesus that breathed on them and said, receive the Spirit. Fifty days later, baptize them in the Spirit in that room in the temple, the upper room we call it. There he baptized. And look, nobody was praying for anybody. A hundred and twenty were baptized without any assistance. Jesus doesn't need my assistance. So I boldly declare tonight, without anybody laying hands on you, anybody touching you, Jesus will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. And if it doesn't happen here, or I'll put it this way, if you don't happen to speak in tongues here, I still say you've got to be baptized before you can talk. The talking isn't the baptism. It's a consequence. I say to a Baptist, why do you baptize people by immersion? Oh, he says, that's what John did. I said, but John said, like I baptize, so he will baptize. So Jesus will immerse you in the Spirit. But, I said, when you are immersed in water, what happens to you? I said, well, we're baptized. I said, yes, but does the water do anything to you? Yeah, you get wet. Oh, everybody gets wet. Yeah, can't you baptize some dry? No, no, no, no. And when are you baptized? When the nose goes under. That's the Baptist. So I heard the Baptist and the Presbyterian argue. The Presbyterian says to the Baptist, listen, you say you must be immersed? He said, yes. He said, so when they walk into the water. And they're in the water up to their knees. Are they baptized? No. Up to their hips? No. Up to their shoulders? No. When are they baptized? When the head goes under. Well, says the Presbyterian, then you must admit the head is the most important. The Baptist said, yes. He says, that's why we Presbyterians just baptize the head. We don't bother about the head. But, Whatever you do, I've never seen anybody get a sip to drink. The baby doesn't get a drop to drink. Baptism is not in you, it's on you. And the baptism in the Holy Spirit isn't getting more of the Spirit, it's the Spirit getting all of you. I don't have any gifts of the Spirit. But when Jesus baptized me, he baptized me in the Spirit. And I'm still there. For the Spirit took over and I don't have his gifts. But the giver of all the gifts has got me. And he can use me and you for whatever he pleases. David, you mean you've got all nine gifts? No, no, no. I haven't got any. But the Spirit has them. And he will use me. But one thing I discovered, he doesn't use me with all nine gifts all at the same time. Brother, you'll blow a fuse. If you switch on everything in the house, I mean you'll blow a fuse. No, no. When I need anything, and so I find, when we need cooking, we switch on the stove. And the same current that makes, boils the food, will... Chill it in the icebox. Still electricity. Everything in the home is electrified. But as I say, you don't switch everything on. What are the best gifts? The gift that is needed most. And for you that are sick, the best gift for you is healing. For you that need encouragement, a word of wisdom will help you. For you that are in trouble, a word of knowledge will help you. And for you that say, I have no faith, a word of faith encouraging you will help you. Oh, thank God for the gifts of the Spirit. And do you know what I've been doing tonight? I didn't speak in tongues. Nobody's going out here and say, David began by talking in tongues. No, I didn't. But could you agree that I spoke some words of wisdom tonight? Aren't they gifts of the Spirit? Why do you make a fuss if people talk in tongues and a preacher will speak a word of wisdom and you act as if the Holy Spirit had nothing to do with it? When you speak a word of wisdom, it's as much a manifestation of the Holy Spirit as tongues. And Paul says, your tongues, you can speak at home 10 ,000 of it. But in the church, you must speak with the understanding. And because I speak with the understanding, you don't think I'm under the unction? Oh, I know how long now I've seen it. And I sat out there, and I prayed in tongues out there. I speak to my Father in tongues. Why did you talk to the Lord in tongues? Because I didn't know what to ask him. What did you want? I want him to bless this audience. But I don't know who's here. I don't know what they need. I don't know what I can say. I can talk till midnight and I won't repeat. But what can I say? Lord, help me to say the right thing. Help me to deliver the word that will bless somebody. And my wife says, David, you talk so long because you don't stick to your point. Well, I said, she says, you detour too much. Well, I said, I've got to. The people don't all live on the highway. I've got to deliver something for somebody who is not living in the highway. He may be somewhere. And I am just a delivery boy for the Holy Spirit. Don't you want to be his delivery boys and girls? Let him use you. Me? Well, I'm a woman. What does that matter? I agree in the Old Testament there were no Leviteses. But in the New Testament. What happened in the New Testament? On the day of Pentecost began. Women's lib. Did you know that? On the day of Pentecost, women's lib began. Why did they now start women's lib? Because they never learned that Jesus liberated women on the day of Pentecost. How did he liberate them? He baptized them in the same Holy Spirit, just like the men. Isn't that wonderful? And Joel says, your sons and daughters, male and female. shall prophesy. Boys and girls. Why, a Levite had to be 30 years old before he could preach or prophesy. But this is the day when boys and girls, Jesus' people, can speak. Servants and handmaidens. I'm not a minister. I'm just a layman. Brother, if you are, you are one of those servants. Sister, you're one of those handmaidens, and you've got the right to speak, to prophesy, to talk about Jesus. Revelation 19 .10, the spirit, the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Let me encourage you Christians, go out and be witnesses for Jesus, and don't wait for you. to receive some gift from the Spirit that you can use. You cannot use the Spirit, but He can use you. And I want to encourage Christians in this meeting, what you saw Catherine Kuhlman do, or rather, what you saw the Lord do through her, He'll do through you. And she was a woman. I know how many times they ask me, what do you think of Catherine Kuhlman's woman? I said, may there be rise up hundreds of them everywhere. You can be used of the Lord. If you're humble, you will follow Jesus. And Jesus says in John 5, 19, The Son, capital S, can do nothing of himself but what he seeth the Father do. For whatsoever the Father does, he doth also. The Son does likewise. If the Son of God says he could do nothing but the Father doeth it, shouldn't you be humble and admit you cannot do it? You haven't got the gift or the ability to do it, but he has called you to a ministry, to be witnesses, and you can do it because the same Spirit that inspired Jesus inspires you. And Jesus finally says in the 30th verse, I can of my own self do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just... because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me. Don't be afraid to say, Lord, if it be thy will. Jesus recognized the will of the Father as important. And my will will not move God. But if I accept his will, he'll move me. He'll use me. He'll use you. Shall we stand? May I appeal to you tonight? Shall we first thank God for forgiveness? His forgiveness. Will you pray with me? We thank thee, Heavenly Father, all together. We thank thee, Heavenly Father, for the forgiveness of our sins. We pray for grace. that we may likewise forgive everybody, even those that crucify us, those that stone us. Grant grace that we may forgive them. And then, Lord, we thank thee for that drink of living water. And if there's anyone in this meeting, Lord, who now opens their heart to you, give them that wonderful drink, O Lord. Fill them with thy Holy Spirit and grant that they may then bear the fruit of the Spirit. Then we learn, O Lord, you not only take away our sins, But you heal our diseases. All our diseases. Oh Lord, heal every sick one in this meeting tonight. We'll touch you now, Lord. Let healing virtue flow. And people in this meeting be healed. Let us go home well and praising God. And then we thank thee, Lord Jesus. You said you shall be baptized in the Holy Ghost. We are here, Lord, to accept that blessing in this day. Baptize those that have not yet received this blessing. And give those of us who have received grace. To let the Holy Spirit use us as he used you, Lord Jesus, to do the works that you did and greater works. We ask it all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Do you think you heard? Do you think he answered? Well, go and enjoy it. Thank him for it. And as you go, remember, he abides. Don't be like an Old Testament prophet who's got an unction today and tomorrow nothing. They've accused me. They say, David never gets under a heavy anointing. He's always calm and easy. I said, the anointing is so heavy that I can't do anything else but be calm and let him have his way. I believe the fountain in my heart never dries up. I cannot sing that funny chorus, here's my cup, Lord, fill my cup. That's a sinner's song. And once a sinner has had a drink, he can't sing it anymore. There's no second drink. After that, it's overflowing. I cannot see the Spirit of the living God fall afresh upon me because he's never gone. Who told you he goes away? He's the unquenchable fire. And so I've had the well that never dries up, the fire that never goes out, and I've been boiling over ever since. For water and fire make steam, and steam is power. about that and that's what happened let it happen to you and if sometimes you feel you're just bubbling over go and find somebody that you can bless and you will see the gifts of the Holy Spirit manifested the Lord be with you
