"Hope" Kathryn Kuhlman Romans 8:24

Hello, Dave here. Just a heads up, there won't be any podcast in the morning tomorrow because we'll be doing a YouTube live at 3 .15 on Friday the 13th, 3 .15 Eastern Standard Time, USA, East Coast USA time. That'll be with me and my pastor and looking at something the Lord's doing in India, southern India, with a man named Pastor Sataraj and how he's blessing the poor there and how we can help. It's not our church's project, you know. But anyway, we'll be diving into that, delving into that. And then there'll be time for prayer. My pastor wants to pray for people who have needs, you know, the kind of thing where you can type it in on the screen and get prayer. For people... who just listened to the podcast and aren't on YouTube, after the YouTube live is over, I'll upload it into my podcast provider because it's too difficult. to work out doing it live simultaneously on YouTube and the podcast provider right now. Maybe further down the road we could do that. And you know what? If there are, God bless you guys who are just listening to the podcast and maybe don't have the access to YouTube. At some... point later on down the road i want to take the sound from a lot of the things that are on youtube and put them into the podcast so the rest of the people can hear them and enjoy them there's a lot of really good um what youtube calls shorts and i'd love to take the some of them and put them up on the podcast anyway So we got that. No podcast tomorrow. And 3 .15, there's a live tomorrow. No. Oh, it will be tomorrow. I'm sorry. It's Wednesday now. Oh, boy. It will be tomorrow. And let me see. A man in absolute dejection and despair, burdened down with problems and troubles, suddenly looked up at me and said, Miss Kuhlman, I haven't anything left but hope. I looked at him and said, that's wonderful. Oh, sir, that's great. Congratulations. I shall never forget the look on his face. He just stared at me. He was speechless for a second, and then he said, Well, what in the world are you congratulating me about? I said, On the fact that... You have hope that finally you're down to hope. You've finally gotten rid of everything. Everything else is cleared away and you're down to this dynamic, this vital, this tremendous force that's called hope. And as long as you have hope left, you have everything. You've got a mighty good foundation. You're not defeated. You're not licked by a long shot. Man, you're well on your way to success. Why, you're way down the road already, if you only knew it, as long as you steal. Have hope. I meant it. And I mean it right now with all of my heart when I tell you that no matter what has happened to you, no matter what your circumstances are, I don't care what has come into that life of yours. If you have hope, Far from being a defeated person. But let me add something very quickly. Do you really know how to hope? If you know how to let hope work for you, you can go right up from one victory to another. And how do I know? Because it's worked in my own life. The thing that I'm talking to you about in this little heart -to -heart talk today is something that literally has been one of the secrets in my own life. Ask those who know me best. Hope. I never, never, under any circumstances, am ever defeated. Never. I don't care if the waters have so overflowed that I have to reach up and the only thing that's sticking out is my one little finger. I still hope. I don't care if the sky is so black. It's so dark. I cannot see the faintest light of a star shining through. There's no sign of a moon. There's no light in the sky whatsoever. Hope still puts stars in that blackened sky for me. I mean that. I pray to God that in the next few minutes, that somehow you will see this wonderful thing that's called hope. I'm going to read a portion of the Word of God. Perhaps you did not know it was there. And remember, before I read this portion as found in the 8th chapter of Romans, I also want you to know that Paul clearly teaches us that there is a difference between faith, and hope. Faith and hope are not the same. In the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians, and you know it very well, Paul says, for now, and he's talking about this earthly life, we're in the flesh, this day -by -day living. For now, at this present time, We see through a glass darkly. But then, and when he uses the word then, he's talking about the time when we no longer had need of either faith or hope. Faith will have become a reality. We'll no longer need to hope because when we stand in the wonderful presence of Jesus, when this which is mortal will have put on immortality, we'll have no more burdens, no more troubles, no more problems, no more sorrow, no more sickness, no more heartbreak. You understand? When he talks about them, he's talking about the time when... This which is corruption will have put on incorruption. Then, face to face, now, that's our earthly life, I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now, and he's still talking about the earthly life, right now, today. Now abideth faith, hope, love. These three. But the greatest of these is love. Because love is something that we will take with us and will be perfected in the then. when we stand in the presence of Jesus. But now, this very hour, today, abideth faith, hope. Therefore, we see that faith is not hope, neither is hope faith. They are separate and apart, but there must first of all be hope. before there can be faith. I want to make that very clear to you. All right, here we go. I'm going to read that person the Word of God. It's still Paul speaking in the 8th chapter of Romans. Watch it. For we are saved by hope. That's right. We are literally saved by hope. You can be saved from many a tragedy. You can be saved from absolute disaster. You can be saved from defeat as long as hope is alive. That's right. For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen That's the word of God. Let me read that last verse again. We see not. Then do we with patience wait for it. Oh, this thing of hope. We should all read and reread that passage and let it sink into our conscious minds until it finally penetrates to the unconscious and is wrapped around our habits, our daily living. For we are saved by hope. Everybody knows that old saying that while there's life, there's hope. And it's a very good saying. But I know a better one. Just turn it around. While there's hope, there's life. And there'll always be life. There will always be victory. As long as there is hope in your life. When hope dies, you're dead indeed. When hope dies, there's nothing left. When hope dies, there can be no victory. When hope dies, there can be no success. But as long as hope is vital in your mind, then you're alive. And as long as you are alive, there is always the possibility of growth. Growth is always a result of vital life. Oh, that word hope. I just love that word hope. It's a wonderful word. In fact, it's the second greatest word in the English language. Love is the greatest. And then there's faith. So faith. Hope, love, abide. These three, but the greatest of these is love. Oh, right here on the heels of love comes this dynamic word, hope. Now, words are outward manifestations of ideas. Ideas engender attitudes. Attitudes determine the whole slant of your life. The focus are the purposefulness of your personality. In the very real sense, therefore, words are you. So you take this grand and glorious dynamic word, hope. Brighten your mind with it. Think hope. Live hope. Literally. Live hope. Build your day on hope. When you awaken in the morning, literally say, I will build my day on hope. Every morning of my life. As soon as I awaken, my first thoughts are, I wonder what's going to happen today. That's right. Those are my first thoughts. There's expectancy. Oh, something wonderful is going to happen today. And it does. It just does. I don't know why it does, but it does. Every day is a wonderful day. No two days are alike. Huh? When you awaken tomorrow morning, Try it. Start using hope. Instead of saying, oh, another day. I wonder if it's going to be as bad as yesterday. And it probably will. Yeah, because you and I get exactly what we looked for. Every person gets exactly what he looks for. It'll be a rotten day for you. I have no bad days. I have no rotten days. I mean that. Oath fakes happen, you know. I'm human. I'm still a part of humanity. But I just don't see the bad things. When they happen, I just hold on to hope and we just ride over the bad things and we come out on top. Sure. That expectancy. Oh, that glorious hope. For the Word of God says we are saved by hope. Hope is a dynamic force when a person gets hope and has hope in him. He begins to get expectancy. And when he begins to get faith, then he begins to get mental control. And then he begins to get spiritual power. And then he grows the knowledge and strength as he must in order to handle the problems of life. It's like that. There's got to be a basis. There's got to be a beginning for all things. So we ought not to be sitting around downhearted, discouraged, defeated. We have in us, through Jesus Christ our Lord, the power to rise above our difficulties. And hope releases those powers. So fill your mind with this glorious thing that's called hope. It's like that. A man 87 years of age. was knocked down by a truck and killed. They had an autopsy. And after the autopsy was performed, the doctor said to his widow, Your husband must have been a remarkable man. I'd examined his body, and there are several reasons why he should have died fully 20 years ago. And how he ever managed to live over 80 is a mystery to me. And that wife turned and said, Well, I'll tell you something. My husband was a remarkable man. He never went to bed at night that he didn't say, I'm going to be better tomorrow. And she said, He always was. That's hope.
