I bought a ticket, but 0:00:46.680 --> 0:00:50.239 you'll be in Boca ratone on Tuesday and other places. 0:00:50.240 --> 0:00:52.400 Where can we go to find out if there's tickets 0:00:52.400 --> 0:00:55.240 in our area? Elevation Worship dot Com there's still a 0:00:55.240 --> 0:00:58.560 few tickets left. Well, I can say that Elevation Worship 0:00:58.600 --> 0:00:59.920 dot Com. That's all they've got to do. 0:01:00.080 --> 0:01:03.640 That's all they gotta do. Come out worship with us. 0:01:03.840 --> 0:01:04.880 Many nights are sold out. 0:01:04.880 --> 0:01:07.920 If you are not, yep, Hey, how many of you 0:01:08.000 --> 0:01:09.959 have had our new album on. 0:01:10.080 --> 0:01:10.880 Repeat this week? 0:01:11.319 --> 0:01:11.640 Bet me. 0:01:14.160 --> 0:01:17.160 What is your favorite song on the new album? Tell 0:01:17.200 --> 0:01:24.360 me that's mine too. That's my favorite way. We tried 0:01:24.400 --> 0:01:29.080 to make that thing. Dang near skipless, no skips. What's 0:01:29.120 --> 0:01:33.040 the goal? And I pray that it's blessing you? You 0:01:33.240 --> 0:01:34.720 just we love. 0:01:34.800 --> 0:01:39.600 I speak on behalf of this incredible team of technical geniuses, 0:01:39.760 --> 0:01:45.280 musical geniuses, and as a songwriter for the people of God, 0:01:45.920 --> 0:01:47.919 I speak on behalf of all of our worship leaders. 0:01:47.960 --> 0:01:50.360 I speak on behalf of all of our givers. We 0:01:50.440 --> 0:01:54.000 love creating anthems for you so that you can draw 0:01:54.080 --> 0:01:55.680 close to God in your time of need. 0:01:56.440 --> 0:01:59.080 We consider that a privilege, and so. 0:02:01.520 --> 0:02:03.920 I figure everybody can't take Chris home with them for 0:02:04.040 --> 0:02:08.519 him to say miracle, have to miracle while you're cutting 0:02:08.520 --> 0:02:11.280 the grass and stuff like that. But this is our 0:02:11.320 --> 0:02:14.520 way to just be there with you, far beyond a 0:02:14.560 --> 0:02:18.919 Sunday morning context, and just remind you. I realize early 0:02:18.960 --> 0:02:22.160 in my ministry with the Word of God, that worshiping God. 0:02:22.680 --> 0:02:24.520 You know, there's the Word of God being preached to us, 0:02:24.520 --> 0:02:26.519 and then there's the worship that we give to God. 0:02:26.919 --> 0:02:29.799 That doesn't have to do with how we feel, that 0:02:29.919 --> 0:02:32.960 doesn't have to do with a style, but it has 0:02:33.040 --> 0:02:35.079 to do with our response to how good He's been 0:02:35.760 --> 0:02:39.200 that when those two things are in tandem together, you 0:02:39.320 --> 0:02:41.880 become dangerous to the devil, and you become an instrument 0:02:41.919 --> 0:02:42.800 in the hand of God. 0:02:43.840 --> 0:02:44.240 And so. 0:02:45.760 --> 0:02:50.400 Please, please, please, don't let. 0:02:50.280 --> 0:02:52.160 This be the only time in the week that you 0:02:52.240 --> 0:02:56.800 sing to your God. All right, don't let this be 0:02:56.840 --> 0:02:58.960 the only time of the week that you open your word. 0:02:59.080 --> 0:03:00.680 I desire for you to grow. 0:03:00.440 --> 0:03:03.680 And be strengthened and and. 0:03:03.639 --> 0:03:06.080 To receive everything God has for you. Wow. 0:03:06.760 --> 0:03:12.440 Today I stand before you, ready to preach, excited to preach. 0:03:13.840 --> 0:03:17.680 And the proof of that is Abby said, Dad, I 0:03:17.680 --> 0:03:22.400 saw you on the porch preaching to nobody at six 0:03:22.440 --> 0:03:24.560 am when I woke up. She said, I almost took 0:03:24.560 --> 0:03:27.640 a video of you so I would have proof for 0:03:27.720 --> 0:03:28.760 my therapist one day. 0:03:29.440 --> 0:03:31.840 She didn't say that last part, but I have. 0:03:31.880 --> 0:03:34.640 Been up early, and I was explaining to her that's 0:03:34.720 --> 0:03:36.040 not me preaching to the trees. 0:03:36.440 --> 0:03:37.720 That's God preaching it to me. 0:03:38.920 --> 0:03:44.480 And so then I now get the privilege to preach 0:03:44.520 --> 0:03:44.720 to you. 0:03:44.960 --> 0:03:46.320 We're gonna go to John chapter two. 0:03:46.400 --> 0:03:51.080 Please remain standing for one moment, John chapter two. 0:04:02.240 --> 0:04:02.960 This will be big. 0:04:03.680 --> 0:04:06.080 You might know this Bible story. On the third day 0:04:06.840 --> 0:04:10.960 a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus's mother 0:04:11.400 --> 0:04:15.520 was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been 0:04:15.560 --> 0:04:19.040 invited to the wedding. I love how Jesus is mentioned 0:04:19.040 --> 0:04:24.840 like a plus one and Jesus and his disciples. Verse 0:04:24.880 --> 0:04:27.920 three says when the wine was gone. When the wine 0:04:28.200 --> 0:04:32.560 was gone, Jesus's mother said to him, they have no 0:04:32.640 --> 0:04:33.279 more wine. 0:04:34.400 --> 0:04:37.000 Verse four, Woman, why do you involve me? 0:04:37.720 --> 0:04:42.159 Jesus replied, I practiced reading that verse about thirty times 0:04:42.200 --> 0:04:43.560 out aloud to try to say it in a way 0:04:43.600 --> 0:04:47.120 that didn't sound bad or disrespectful. There's no way for 0:04:47.200 --> 0:04:49.359 me to say that sequence of words being raised in 0:04:49.400 --> 0:04:53.440 the South that sounds right. Why do you involve me? 0:04:54.160 --> 0:04:55.960 I feel like she might slap me, and she's on 0:04:56.000 --> 0:05:00.800 the second row. She can't even reach me. Woman, why 0:05:00.839 --> 0:05:04.120 do you involve me? Jesus replied, My hour has not 0:05:04.279 --> 0:05:07.840 yet come. His mother said to the servants, do whatever 0:05:07.880 --> 0:05:14.120 he tells you. Nearby stood six stone water jars, the 0:05:14.200 --> 0:05:18.440 kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding 0:05:19.160 --> 0:05:21.120 from twenty to thirty gallons. 0:05:21.160 --> 0:05:22.000 That's pretty big. 0:05:23.240 --> 0:05:27.080 Jesus said to the servants, fill the jars with water, 0:05:27.800 --> 0:05:28.880 so they filled them. 0:05:29.080 --> 0:05:33.640 So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, 0:05:34.320 --> 0:05:36.760 now draw some out. 0:05:36.200 --> 0:05:38.320 And take it to the master of the banquet. They 0:05:38.320 --> 0:05:43.039 did so, and the Master of the banquet tasted the water, 0:05:43.640 --> 0:05:45.039 but it wasn't water anymore. 0:05:45.320 --> 0:05:49.400 He tasted the water that had been turned into wine. 0:05:49.480 --> 0:05:52.920 He did not realize where it. 0:05:52.880 --> 0:05:57.600 Had come from, though the servants who had drawn the 0:05:57.640 --> 0:05:59.279 water knew. 0:06:01.040 --> 0:06:05.480 Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, this is 0:06:05.560 --> 0:06:08.000 weird the way this normally works. 0:06:08.480 --> 0:06:12.120 Everyone brings out the choice wine first, and then the 0:06:12.240 --> 0:06:15.880 cheaper wine after. The guests are too drunk to know 0:06:15.960 --> 0:06:22.960 the difference. But you have saved the best till now. 0:06:24.240 --> 0:06:24.720 But you. 0:06:26.520 --> 0:06:30.440 Have saved the best till now. 0:06:30.960 --> 0:06:34.000 There's something that the Lord wants to discuss with you today, 0:06:34.560 --> 0:06:37.000 and I want you to help me. Tell your neighbor 0:06:37.040 --> 0:06:39.599 the title of my sermon. Look at your neighbor and 0:06:39.640 --> 0:06:40.760 make a distinction for him. 0:06:40.800 --> 0:06:44.080 Tell him neighbor not now. 0:06:45.600 --> 0:06:56.240 Is not No, that was the wrong neighbor. Look at 0:06:56.279 --> 0:06:59.840 your other neighbor who feels rejected. Come on, put it 0:06:59.880 --> 0:07:01.680 in the chat. If you're not in the room, say 0:07:01.680 --> 0:07:11.120 neighbor own neighbor. In case you're disappointed. About something, struggling 0:07:11.160 --> 0:07:15.800 with something for a long time and think it's. 0:07:15.600 --> 0:07:19.120 Never going to come to pass. I want to remind 0:07:19.200 --> 0:07:25.480 you not now is not know. Clap your hands and 0:07:25.520 --> 0:07:28.360 put a praise on this word and advance. 0:07:29.720 --> 0:07:29.800 Not. 0:07:30.000 --> 0:07:32.200 No, it's not known. 0:07:34.680 --> 0:07:37.360 We say yes to your word, Lord speak. We're listening 0:07:37.360 --> 0:07:46.320 in Jesus' name. Amen, you may be seated. Mm hmm. 0:07:47.280 --> 0:07:49.400 I've been waiting to appreciate this one. 0:07:50.200 --> 0:07:53.239 That's the hard part is holding it, getting it, getting 0:07:53.280 --> 0:08:00.040 ready to do it, doing it. Okay, all right, I 0:08:00.120 --> 0:08:03.520 need to set this sermon up by giving you a 0:08:03.520 --> 0:08:08.160 little personal anecdote from my life experience. I have never 0:08:08.240 --> 0:08:12.320 coached one of my children in sports. I just decided 0:08:12.920 --> 0:08:17.800 that my enthusiasm about being their dad shouldn't punish the 0:08:17.840 --> 0:08:20.480 other children on the team with my lack of expertise 0:08:21.720 --> 0:08:24.320 in sports. I think you know what I'm talking about. 0:08:24.320 --> 0:08:26.280 I think you've all had that coach, cussed out that 0:08:26.400 --> 0:08:30.800 coach and complained about that coach. I always coached them 0:08:30.840 --> 0:08:34.120 personally on the sidelines. Graham said something so devious the 0:08:34.160 --> 0:08:36.400 other day because he's a good little wrestler, now good 0:08:36.400 --> 0:08:39.160 big wrestler. Now, it's not literally's same size as me, 0:08:40.040 --> 0:08:43.480 and he said, now that I look back, he said, 0:08:43.480 --> 0:08:45.840 Now that I look back, he said, I thought you. 0:08:45.960 --> 0:08:49.400 I thought you were so ope as a wrestler when 0:08:49.440 --> 0:08:50.040 I was little. 0:08:51.000 --> 0:08:53.959 But now that I look back and realize how little 0:08:54.000 --> 0:08:55.840 you actually knew about wrestling. 0:08:55.520 --> 0:08:56.160 It's amazed. 0:08:56.440 --> 0:08:59.760 It's amazing to me how much you coached me knowing 0:09:00.080 --> 0:09:01.280 most nothing about the sport. 0:09:03.840 --> 0:09:07.960 That's funny. I try to coach my kids for the 0:09:08.080 --> 0:09:09.280 challenges of their life. 0:09:09.320 --> 0:09:11.079 Of course, you know, they didn't sign up to be 0:09:11.160 --> 0:09:13.360 on your team, so they don't care much to listen 0:09:14.120 --> 0:09:17.240 to your advice, and you can't kick them off, and 0:09:17.280 --> 0:09:19.320 so you are limited in your coaching. But I have 0:09:19.400 --> 0:09:22.880 found all joking aside, that to be one of the 0:09:22.920 --> 0:09:27.079 greatest and most stretching challenges and privileges of my life, 0:09:27.840 --> 0:09:31.480 just to be there for them, especially in those moments. 0:09:32.240 --> 0:09:35.520 My oldest son, Elijah, he called me from college and 0:09:35.559 --> 0:09:39.160 this is one of those moments last semester, and I 0:09:39.200 --> 0:09:41.720 think in the transition of being a freshman in college, 0:09:42.280 --> 0:09:44.200 he just wanted to hear my voice on a few things. 0:09:44.200 --> 0:09:45.760 But I could tell that he was down and that 0:09:45.800 --> 0:09:47.120 he was low, and that happens to. 0:09:47.080 --> 0:09:47.559 All of us. 0:09:47.600 --> 0:09:51.600 So after we push past that a little bit, I said, 0:09:51.640 --> 0:09:54.959 I'll tell you what I said. You want to call 0:09:55.040 --> 0:09:58.000 me back at like three o'clock and have something to 0:09:58.000 --> 0:10:00.319 write down with and I'll coach you up a little bit. 0:10:00.720 --> 0:10:03.920 I'll coach you as if you paid me to do it. 0:10:04.880 --> 0:10:06.440 And he said, I would love that. 0:10:06.880 --> 0:10:09.600 And so he called me at the schedule time of 0:10:09.600 --> 0:10:12.320 the appointment, and we did. 0:10:12.360 --> 0:10:15.000 We set up an actual appointment, and I said, Okay, 0:10:16.040 --> 0:10:18.600 what I think you're feeling right now is that you 0:10:18.679 --> 0:10:22.559 are feeling like all of the resources that you relied 0:10:22.600 --> 0:10:26.040 on when you lived at home, you're still resourced, and 0:10:26.760 --> 0:10:29.720 you still have us at college, but you know, everything 0:10:29.800 --> 0:10:32.280 is new to you. And so when I get in 0:10:32.320 --> 0:10:35.920 that place where I am my personal life feel like 0:10:35.960 --> 0:10:39.560 I have reached the end of my resources. And I 0:10:39.600 --> 0:10:42.200 get in that funk, and you know, the devil starts 0:10:42.240 --> 0:10:44.240 telling me the same things he's telling you as a 0:10:44.240 --> 0:10:45.520 college student, but he tells me. 0:10:45.480 --> 0:10:47.080 Them as a grown man. 0:10:47.480 --> 0:10:50.920 That I have nothing really to offer, or that my 0:10:51.000 --> 0:10:54.480 best is behind me, or that I am no longer relevant, 0:10:54.600 --> 0:10:58.000 or that the things that my critics have said about 0:10:58.040 --> 0:11:01.240 me are right, or that you know, just the list 0:11:01.320 --> 0:11:02.480 goes on and on, and I don't want to bore 0:11:02.520 --> 0:11:03.960 you with it. But when I get in that place, 0:11:04.920 --> 0:11:07.000 I've learned to make a list. And so I told them, 0:11:07.000 --> 0:11:09.160 I'm going to take you through this today of how 0:11:09.200 --> 0:11:13.000 to make a list when you feel low. So I said, 0:11:13.120 --> 0:11:15.080 one list that I, of course make that I've taught 0:11:15.080 --> 0:11:16.760 you about is gratitude. 0:11:16.160 --> 0:11:18.199 Things to be grateful for. You've heard about that. 0:11:18.280 --> 0:11:21.600 There's nobody who has a TikTok account who hasn't heard 0:11:21.600 --> 0:11:25.160 the importance of a gratitude list. But I said, there's 0:11:25.200 --> 0:11:27.600 another type of list that I like to make, and 0:11:27.640 --> 0:11:29.880 it's when I'm basically telling myself that I'm in this 0:11:30.000 --> 0:11:33.400 alone and that nobody is there for me. And I 0:11:33.440 --> 0:11:36.080 know that's not true, but it feels true emotionally. I say, 0:11:36.679 --> 0:11:39.760 I'll make a list of every person that is in 0:11:39.840 --> 0:11:44.600 my life that has in a past time or even 0:11:44.640 --> 0:11:47.680 recently said that they would be willing to help me, 0:11:48.160 --> 0:11:50.080 or that I think might be willing to help me, 0:11:50.760 --> 0:11:54.080 even in the smallest way, if they ever helped me before, 0:11:54.200 --> 0:11:55.400 or if I think they might help me, or if 0:11:55.400 --> 0:11:57.680 they mentioned one time that they would help me, I 0:11:57.720 --> 0:11:58.120 will just. 0:11:58.040 --> 0:11:59.000 Start writing a list. 0:11:59.040 --> 0:12:01.640 I said, Now the hardest part is going to be 0:12:01.679 --> 0:12:04.560 to start the list, because right now you're feeling like, well, 0:12:04.559 --> 0:12:07.520 nobody cares about me and nobody likes me. But that's 0:12:07.559 --> 0:12:12.280 just recency bias. That's just the last thing that happened 0:12:12.280 --> 0:12:17.160 to you posing as the biggest thing that happened to you, 0:12:17.960 --> 0:12:20.760 and it's not. And as you begin to write, what 0:12:20.800 --> 0:12:23.040 you're going to find is when you start writing with 0:12:23.120 --> 0:12:26.440 no discretion, with no editing, you'll have a hard time 0:12:26.520 --> 0:12:31.680 stopping writing the list. Don't qualify anything, don't ask risk anything, 0:12:31.760 --> 0:12:34.520 don't Yeah, but they might or but then if they 0:12:34.520 --> 0:12:35.760 do that for me, I got to do that for them. 0:12:35.760 --> 0:12:37.920 And then if you can't do that, how about somebody 0:12:37.960 --> 0:12:40.600 you could do something for y'all? 0:12:40.720 --> 0:12:43.839 Quiet, you'll like the first part of the list better. 0:12:44.800 --> 0:12:47.080 But I said, sometimes it's better to even say, like, well, 0:12:47.080 --> 0:12:50.160 who's somebody that I could just encourage, Who's somebody that 0:12:50.200 --> 0:12:52.880 I could just send a text to? I said, And 0:12:52.960 --> 0:12:56.680 when you start the list, don't don't stop until you'll 0:12:56.720 --> 0:12:59.280 have to stop yourself, because once you start, trust me. 0:12:59.480 --> 0:13:01.319 And so we do it together on the phone. And 0:13:01.360 --> 0:13:04.240 what I said happened happened because I'm a good coach. 0:13:04.840 --> 0:13:09.480 Just not at sports. And so he starts writing the 0:13:09.480 --> 0:13:11.800 list and he's like, this is crazy, this is amazing. 0:13:11.880 --> 0:13:14.040 You're right, this is crazy, and they know them. 0:13:14.160 --> 0:13:16.520 And I said, see how it happens. 0:13:16.679 --> 0:13:18.240 And now you've got to stop because now I'm going 0:13:18.320 --> 0:13:21.280 to tell you the next hardest part of this. I'm 0:13:21.280 --> 0:13:24.199 going to need you to act on at least one 0:13:24.240 --> 0:13:27.840 of them and reach out and. 0:13:27.760 --> 0:13:29.959 Reach out because you feel low. 0:13:30.040 --> 0:13:31.959 So I want you to. I want you to learn 0:13:32.000 --> 0:13:35.160 the pattern in your life that when you feel low 0:13:35.920 --> 0:13:42.120 on resource, reach in and then reach out. Reach in 0:13:43.240 --> 0:13:45.240 and then reach out, and you don't have to reach 0:13:45.240 --> 0:13:47.840 out to everybody on the list, and you don't have 0:13:47.920 --> 0:13:50.080 to ask them to do something, and you don't have 0:13:50.120 --> 0:13:53.240 to stand there and stare at the bubbles. Because the 0:13:53.600 --> 0:13:55.880 third hardest part of this, and the hardest part of 0:13:55.920 --> 0:14:01.120 all is after you reach out, need you to release 0:14:01.480 --> 0:14:06.080 your need for them to respond, because they might not. 0:14:07.679 --> 0:14:09.360 And if you predicate. 0:14:08.880 --> 0:14:14.319 Your happiness or your strength on their response, you could 0:14:14.400 --> 0:14:17.800 end up worse off after this exercise than you were 0:14:17.840 --> 0:14:20.040 before you did it, because now it will have served 0:14:20.360 --> 0:14:24.200 to have reinforced your insecurity that nobody is there for me. 0:14:25.320 --> 0:14:27.920 So I need you to everybody, repeat after me, Reach 0:14:29.040 --> 0:14:34.360 and release. Say it again, Reach and release. So that's 0:14:34.400 --> 0:14:37.480 what we're gonna do. And he did that, and I 0:14:37.520 --> 0:14:39.720 told him, I said, you might reach out to somebody 0:14:39.960 --> 0:14:42.680 and say, hey, can we get together? Hey, remember when 0:14:42.680 --> 0:14:44.480 we talked about hey, because he was in a state 0:14:44.520 --> 0:14:46.760 that we've all been there before, like I don't really 0:14:46.800 --> 0:14:48.920 have anything, and I don't don't I don't have that 0:14:49.000 --> 0:14:51.000 many people, and I don't have enough. And I said, well, 0:14:51.160 --> 0:14:53.800 the first thing you need to do is remind yourself 0:14:53.840 --> 0:14:58.880 of the resources you have and then reach, but then release, 0:14:59.160 --> 0:15:02.800 because they might get your text, but it's just a 0:15:02.800 --> 0:15:09.000 bad time. It might just be a bad time, and 0:15:09.040 --> 0:15:13.560 you might create stories in your mind that they don't 0:15:13.640 --> 0:15:19.160 like me, they don't care about me, something horrible happened 0:15:19.200 --> 0:15:20.280 that they didn't tell me about. 0:15:20.360 --> 0:15:20.880 They're dead. 0:15:21.000 --> 0:15:23.840 No, they're not dead, they're just asleep. 0:15:26.000 --> 0:15:26.800 Taking a nap. 0:15:28.560 --> 0:15:33.640 It might just be a matter of timing, timing. 0:15:33.680 --> 0:15:39.280 Everybody say, timing, timing, timing, timing. That's what I saw 0:15:39.480 --> 0:15:42.280 in John chapter two, this time that in all of 0:15:42.320 --> 0:15:46.120 my soljourns through this text, joining the milieu of students 0:15:46.120 --> 0:15:48.720 of the scripture through the millennia who have wondered. 0:15:48.560 --> 0:15:52.000 About this question, Why is Jesus. 0:15:51.600 --> 0:15:55.200 At a wedding when he's only got three years to 0:15:55.320 --> 0:15:59.200 change the world. You will recall that his life was 0:15:59.240 --> 0:16:01.640 cut short at the age of thirty three. 0:16:02.760 --> 0:16:05.800 You will recall that for the first thirty years. 0:16:05.600 --> 0:16:09.760 Of his ministry, there is no record of his ministry activity, 0:16:10.880 --> 0:16:13.600 meaning that everything we have that was written about him 0:16:13.600 --> 0:16:16.560 other than him getting lost at the temple one time 0:16:16.640 --> 0:16:20.320 and sitting around with the older teachers, well, it's simply 0:16:20.560 --> 0:16:21.400 isn't there. 0:16:21.960 --> 0:16:22.760 For our records? 0:16:23.760 --> 0:16:28.080 And so the question becomes, Jesus, do you really have 0:16:28.320 --> 0:16:33.400 time to stop buy a wedding when you only have 0:16:33.520 --> 0:16:38.200 three years to change the world? And I'm your discipleship 0:16:38.240 --> 0:16:44.240 team is not exactly executive, world class material. 0:16:45.320 --> 0:16:47.560 You got a lot of work to do with these boys. 0:16:47.640 --> 0:16:49.480 Are you sure you want to take them to a 0:16:49.520 --> 0:16:53.440 wedding on the first week that they're your disciples? Did 0:16:53.480 --> 0:16:56.680 you know that this is the first week that they're 0:16:56.720 --> 0:16:57.600 following Jesus? 0:16:57.720 --> 0:16:59.720 Yeah, where the Bible says show them verse. 0:16:59.560 --> 0:17:01.800 One, Because everything in the text makes me think about 0:17:02.160 --> 0:17:05.880 the timing of Jesus. On the third day a wedding 0:17:05.960 --> 0:17:08.960 took place, and you're like, oh, yeah, the third Day Resurrection. 0:17:09.080 --> 0:17:09.440 Not yet. 0:17:10.800 --> 0:17:13.280 We still got a long way to go till Jesus 0:17:13.280 --> 0:17:15.879 gets up from the grave. He hasn't died yet. He 0:17:15.960 --> 0:17:19.800 hasn't healed blind Bartimaeus. Yet, he hasn't taught the Pharisees 0:17:19.840 --> 0:17:23.600 and the Sadducees with authority and rebuked them for their 0:17:23.920 --> 0:17:26.919 stiff neck adherence to traditions of men rather than the 0:17:26.920 --> 0:17:27.840 ways of God. 0:17:28.040 --> 0:17:30.160 None of that has happened to yet. And it says 0:17:30.160 --> 0:17:31.240 on the third day. 0:17:32.680 --> 0:17:35.600 He went to a wedding, the third day of what 0:17:36.000 --> 0:17:39.760 the third day after he selected his disciples. For years 0:17:39.800 --> 0:17:42.080 I read this and thought it was the third day 0:17:42.160 --> 0:17:44.920 of the wedding feast, because in these days they would 0:17:44.920 --> 0:17:48.000 party for a week at a wedding. So I thought 0:17:48.000 --> 0:17:49.919 it meant the third day of the wedding. That's not 0:17:49.960 --> 0:17:51.920 what it means. Put it back up. On the third 0:17:52.000 --> 0:17:55.680 day a wedding took place at Cana. So we realized 0:17:55.720 --> 0:18:00.199 from the very beginning of this text, it's not happening 0:18:00.920 --> 0:18:08.040 on our timeline. It's happening on his. Thank you Holly, exactly, 0:18:11.119 --> 0:18:13.359 It's happening on his. Tell somebody, it's happening on his 0:18:14.800 --> 0:18:18.560 not your schedule, is happening on his Yeah, it's happening 0:18:18.560 --> 0:18:20.000 on his It's happening on his. 0:18:20.160 --> 0:18:20.720 That is one of the. 0:18:20.720 --> 0:18:24.720 Most difficult lessons for us to learn that sometimes when 0:18:24.760 --> 0:18:29.200 we believe a promise from God, we expect that promise 0:18:29.960 --> 0:18:32.320 to happen according to our plan. 0:18:33.240 --> 0:18:35.280 But it's not happening according to my plan. 0:18:36.200 --> 0:18:39.080 It's not happening on my say So, it's not happening 0:18:39.119 --> 0:18:43.240 according to my preference. Is happening according to his purpose. 0:18:44.520 --> 0:18:48.160 That being said, don't you want to kind of tell 0:18:48.280 --> 0:18:52.040 Jesus to read a leadership book and learn how to 0:18:52.119 --> 0:18:52.560 say no. 0:18:52.640 --> 0:18:53.440 Read the scripture. 0:18:53.480 --> 0:18:56.720 It says on the third day a wedding took place 0:18:56.960 --> 0:19:01.960 Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and 0:19:02.000 --> 0:19:06.520 his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 0:19:06.640 --> 0:19:08.280 So you're running Jesus's scheduling. 0:19:08.320 --> 0:19:11.359 You're his administrative assistant, and you're going through all of 0:19:11.359 --> 0:19:14.040 the possible things that the Son of God, the perfect 0:19:14.119 --> 0:19:16.919 Word of God that was made flesh and dwelled among us, 0:19:16.960 --> 0:19:20.840 the one who through and buy whom and for whom 0:19:20.920 --> 0:19:23.359 all things were created that were created. And he's sitting 0:19:23.400 --> 0:19:25.720 down to plan the week and they say, Jesus, we've 0:19:25.720 --> 0:19:29.520 got this wedding in Cana But I told him no, 0:19:29.720 --> 0:19:34.960 and Jesus said, no, actually we're going. No, but Jesus 0:19:35.160 --> 0:19:39.000 is a wedding and we've got to change the world. Yeah, No, 0:19:39.119 --> 0:19:42.679 we're going. And what I took from that that I 0:19:42.720 --> 0:19:45.960 want to pass on to you is that you might 0:19:46.040 --> 0:19:48.600 be surprised where Jesus would show. 0:19:48.440 --> 0:19:49.920 Up if you would invite. 0:19:49.640 --> 0:19:57.879 Him, Because we do think that we got. 0:19:57.760 --> 0:20:00.280 To be almost going under to cry out to him 0:20:00.320 --> 0:20:02.080 for help and then he'll come. 0:20:03.040 --> 0:20:05.960 We do think that we have to be going through 0:20:05.960 --> 0:20:08.480 the fire of hell to call and then he'll come. 0:20:09.520 --> 0:20:11.440 But what if he wants to join you in your 0:20:11.440 --> 0:20:16.080 moments of celebration to make them even sweeter. I don't 0:20:16.080 --> 0:20:18.840 mean you gotta be weird and stop at the ball game. 0:20:19.119 --> 0:20:21.760 Lord, we thank you for that base hit. 0:20:22.680 --> 0:20:26.320 For God, you are the basis of every base hit, 0:20:26.840 --> 0:20:30.440 and on Christ the solid rock. No, just shut up 0:20:30.600 --> 0:20:35.080 and in your heart, have a moment. Tell somebody, have 0:20:35.119 --> 0:20:39.080 a moment, just a moment. What God can do in 0:20:39.280 --> 0:20:42.320 one open moment might change the rest of your life. 0:20:43.840 --> 0:20:46.119 But if you are waiting on what you perceive to 0:20:46.160 --> 0:20:49.120 be a God moment, which means, you know, I can 0:20:49.160 --> 0:20:51.120 call on him in the prison cell. Why not call 0:20:51.160 --> 0:20:52.800 on him and ask him to come to the wedding feast? 0:20:52.880 --> 0:21:00.520 Do he has time for this? And I think that's amazing. 0:21:01.520 --> 0:21:03.840 I think it's amazing that he came to the wedding. 0:21:04.680 --> 0:21:06.879 I think it's amazing that he took the time to 0:21:06.920 --> 0:21:07.440 stop by. 0:21:07.760 --> 0:21:08.359 I think it's. 0:21:08.200 --> 0:21:10.600 Amazing that we don't even know whose wedding it was, 0:21:10.960 --> 0:21:15.359 because who was at the wedding becomes even more important 0:21:15.720 --> 0:21:20.120 than who was married at the wedding. Jesus goes from 0:21:20.200 --> 0:21:23.760 the plus one to the miracle worker in the eyes 0:21:23.800 --> 0:21:28.359 of the disciples. That is where we pick up he 0:21:28.480 --> 0:21:32.480 was invited to a wedding, and verse three says, can 0:21:32.520 --> 0:21:36.719 we just study this verse by verse for a moment? Yeah, 0:21:37.000 --> 0:21:41.120 can we just study this verse by verse for a moment? Okay, 0:21:41.800 --> 0:21:47.600 when the wine was gone. When the wine was gone, 0:21:50.520 --> 0:21:53.840 it would seem to me that if he was already 0:21:53.840 --> 0:21:57.720 at the wedding and he intended to replenish the supply, 0:21:59.359 --> 0:22:02.679 it would have been better to do it when the 0:22:02.720 --> 0:22:07.639 wine was getting a little low. He did not step 0:22:07.680 --> 0:22:12.320 in when the wine got low. It seemed to me 0:22:12.440 --> 0:22:14.359 that if he was coming to the wedding, and he 0:22:14.440 --> 0:22:18.399 is God in the flesh, that he could have brought 0:22:18.440 --> 0:22:22.320 wine to the wedding because he knew they would run out. 0:22:22.600 --> 0:22:25.280 If he's omniscient, and here. 0:22:25.080 --> 0:22:27.440 In lies one of the great mysteries of the mercy 0:22:27.520 --> 0:22:33.440 of God, that he lets the human supply completely run 0:22:33.480 --> 0:22:36.199 out before he steps in. 0:22:40.080 --> 0:22:44.960 Just because you've run out doesn't mean he won't still 0:22:45.000 --> 0:22:45.520 step in. 0:22:46.560 --> 0:22:50.120 I could preach a whole revival of that, because I'm 0:22:50.160 --> 0:22:54.480 preaching to somebody out of energy, out of answers, out 0:22:54.560 --> 0:22:58.320 of ideas, out of innovations, out of people to call, 0:22:58.520 --> 0:23:01.000 out of people to text. I made my list, I 0:23:01.040 --> 0:23:04.159 went through my list. Nobody hit me back. I'm out 0:23:04.160 --> 0:23:06.320 of time, I'm out of opportunities. 0:23:06.400 --> 0:23:07.080 I'm out. 0:23:07.560 --> 0:23:13.000 Just because you're out doesn't mean he won't step in. 0:23:15.160 --> 0:23:16.600 And now you know why. 0:23:16.520 --> 0:23:21.320 We were singing that he's always on time earlier, because 0:23:21.359 --> 0:23:24.560 even though there are some times where he didn't show 0:23:24.640 --> 0:23:29.040 up right when we wanted him to, there were also 0:23:29.160 --> 0:23:33.040 some times that we learned some things in the lag 0:23:33.160 --> 0:23:36.160 time that we would not have learned. Well, I gotta 0:23:36.160 --> 0:23:38.600 break this down, I gotta break this down. If he 0:23:38.680 --> 0:23:41.720 had stepped in immediately. If the wine never ran out, 0:23:42.320 --> 0:23:47.200 it would have been about the wine. If the job 0:23:47.440 --> 0:23:48.879 never dried up, it would have. 0:23:48.880 --> 0:23:52.680 Been about the job. If the relationship would. 0:23:52.520 --> 0:23:55.400 Have always stayed intact and always been easy, it would 0:23:55.440 --> 0:23:55.760 have been. 0:23:55.640 --> 0:23:56.560 About that person. 0:23:57.560 --> 0:24:00.199 So he let it get hard, so he let it 0:24:00.240 --> 0:24:02.960 run out. So we let it run dry, So we 0:24:03.080 --> 0:24:05.919 let it lag a little bit so that when he 0:24:06.040 --> 0:24:09.280 stepped in there would be a revelation. And now there's 0:24:09.320 --> 0:24:14.000 a conversation between Mary, the mother of Jesus and Jesus, 0:24:14.320 --> 0:24:17.240 the Son of God. And this is humorous, and you 0:24:17.359 --> 0:24:19.760 have to see the humor in it, because I really 0:24:19.800 --> 0:24:22.080 can't tell what's going on at first. I really can't, 0:24:22.320 --> 0:24:25.440 because she turns to Jesus verse three and says, they 0:24:25.480 --> 0:24:27.399 have no more wine. 0:24:27.640 --> 0:24:29.320 Two words in Greek. No wine. 0:24:29.400 --> 0:24:31.680 It's a it's a very it's a very strange thing 0:24:31.720 --> 0:24:32.359 for her to say. 0:24:32.480 --> 0:24:36.399 She's not exactly asking him to fix it, but I 0:24:36.440 --> 0:24:40.680 think she's implying that he should. It's one of these 0:24:40.720 --> 0:24:47.280 it's like no wine. And he goes woman, and I'm like, 0:24:47.520 --> 0:24:53.720 what he said, woman, Why do you involve me? 0:24:53.880 --> 0:24:58.440 This is hilarious to me? No wine? Woman? What does 0:24:58.440 --> 0:24:59.480 that have to do with me. 0:25:00.040 --> 0:25:01.600 I watched this statement because we're talking about ti, we're 0:25:01.600 --> 0:25:02.120 talking about time. 0:25:02.160 --> 0:25:04.720 Everybody say time, put it in the chat, say time. 0:25:05.200 --> 0:25:10.320 He said, my hour has not yet come. Okay. 0:25:11.680 --> 0:25:17.159 So she's not exactly asking him to fix it, but 0:25:17.240 --> 0:25:24.000 she's implying that he could. He's not exactly refusing to 0:25:24.080 --> 0:25:26.159 do it, but he's. 0:25:26.040 --> 0:25:27.119 Implying that he might not. 0:25:30.640 --> 0:25:33.680 And I can imagine all of the responses that married 0:25:33.720 --> 0:25:35.959 the Mother of Jesus would have had in this moment 0:25:37.000 --> 0:25:39.000 if she had had an attitude. 0:25:40.040 --> 0:25:43.720 Like many of us. Because what's what he said, It's 0:25:43.760 --> 0:25:44.120 not my. 0:25:44.160 --> 0:25:57.360 Time, not your time. Son, I was a virgin. Think 0:25:57.400 --> 0:26:05.800 about this, that's your time. You came in my womb, 0:26:09.960 --> 0:26:15.600 you talk about not time. And then I carried you nine. 0:26:15.400 --> 0:26:18.720 Months and I was going to Bethlehem for a. 0:26:18.760 --> 0:26:22.440 Census, and no, you couldn't wait for me to get 0:26:22.480 --> 0:26:23.080 back home. 0:26:23.520 --> 0:26:26.639 I was on that donkey behind Joseph, and here you 0:26:26.800 --> 0:26:31.320 came in a barn and you want to talk about 0:26:31.359 --> 0:26:32.000 your time. 0:26:32.840 --> 0:26:33.960 Let's talk about time. 0:26:43.119 --> 0:26:45.600 Maybe it's not a problem. Maybe maybe it's not a controversy. 0:26:45.640 --> 0:26:47.720 Maybe it's not an argument, Maybe it's not a debate. 0:26:47.760 --> 0:26:50.640 Maybe it's not a manipulation. Maybe it's not reluctant. Maybe 0:26:50.640 --> 0:26:51.399 it's a pattern here. 0:26:51.480 --> 0:26:54.160 Let's see a pattern. 0:26:54.600 --> 0:27:00.360 He's he's asked to do something. Okay, there's a request, 0:27:01.560 --> 0:27:05.800 there's a refusal, and then there's a revelation. 0:27:08.160 --> 0:27:14.520 There's a request, there's a refusal, and then there's a revelation. 0:27:15.760 --> 0:27:18.400 John chapter seven. Jesus' ministry is really thriving. In John 0:27:18.480 --> 0:27:21.200 chapter seven, many miracles have already been performed. Many blind 0:27:21.200 --> 0:27:23.720 people have already received sight, many of the death have 0:27:23.760 --> 0:27:24.440 been able to hear. 0:27:24.480 --> 0:27:26.040 And Jesus is popular. 0:27:26.720 --> 0:27:28.280 His brothers come to him and say, now, if you 0:27:28.320 --> 0:27:29.960 really want to do this thing right, you need to 0:27:30.000 --> 0:27:33.200 get to Jerusalem where the festival is, because they'll see 0:27:33.280 --> 0:27:36.479 at the festival. And Jesus says something interesting. He said, uh, 0:27:37.920 --> 0:27:44.280 not now, not now. And the Bible says that Jesus's 0:27:44.359 --> 0:27:48.560 brother's winning. Jesus showed up with some sunglasses on a 0:27:48.600 --> 0:27:52.600 little bit later in the week, got there when he 0:27:52.640 --> 0:27:53.120 wanted to. 0:27:54.920 --> 0:27:56.040 Yeah, that's weird, isn't it. 0:27:56.600 --> 0:27:58.679 Because they said you need to go to Jerusalem and 0:27:58.720 --> 0:27:59.720 show everybody who you are. 0:28:00.040 --> 0:28:00.800 Oh, I'm gonna show. 0:28:00.680 --> 0:28:03.440 Him on my time. 0:28:05.359 --> 0:28:06.639 So he told them no. 0:28:08.119 --> 0:28:12.920 But what he was really saying, is not. Now there's 0:28:12.960 --> 0:28:13.520 a difference. 0:28:15.640 --> 0:28:18.040 There were two sisters in a place called Bethany in 0:28:18.080 --> 0:28:22.000 John chapter eleven. Often they would host Jesus at their home. 0:28:22.600 --> 0:28:24.360 One of them loved to cook and one of them 0:28:24.400 --> 0:28:27.919 loved to listen. Jesus could speak and eat, and speak 0:28:27.960 --> 0:28:32.240 and eat. He was in heaven in their home. Eventually, 0:28:32.280 --> 0:28:35.359 their brother Lazarus, whom many believe, had a physical impairment, 0:28:35.440 --> 0:28:37.480 and that is part of the reason that Jesus loved. 0:28:37.359 --> 0:28:38.000 Him so much. 0:28:38.040 --> 0:28:40.800 But we know that whatever the case of his physical 0:28:40.800 --> 0:28:44.080 condition at birth, he was sick and to the point 0:28:44.080 --> 0:28:44.720 of dying. 0:28:44.800 --> 0:28:48.160 So the messenger sent a text to Jesus. 0:28:49.320 --> 0:28:55.120 Modernizing, they sent a message to Jesus, and since there 0:28:55.280 --> 0:28:59.680 was no communication via text message or internet, it took 0:28:59.720 --> 0:29:02.200 a look little while for them to get to Jesus. 0:29:03.480 --> 0:29:06.480 And it took a little while, and he got worse. 0:29:06.560 --> 0:29:09.560 And it took a little while and he got worse. Now, 0:29:09.760 --> 0:29:13.080 the moment that the message arrived in John chapter eleven 0:29:13.160 --> 0:29:16.760 to Jesus, he could have gone to Bethany. 0:29:17.840 --> 0:29:21.880 He did not. He must not have loved them very much. 0:29:21.880 --> 0:29:24.400 You say, no, the Bible says, because he loved them 0:29:25.840 --> 0:29:30.040 he stayed where he was two more days. So here 0:29:30.080 --> 0:29:37.880 comes the message, now heal him. It's a request, and 0:29:37.960 --> 0:29:41.920 here's the response of Jesus. He stays where he is. 0:29:43.160 --> 0:29:46.760 He refuses to move where he is needed the most. 0:29:47.760 --> 0:29:49.920 Why. They've seen him heal. 0:29:52.560 --> 0:29:55.680 They've seen him take a sick person and reach down 0:29:55.720 --> 0:29:58.480 and raise them up. They've seen him speak the word, 0:29:58.800 --> 0:30:02.000 and his word was so powerful that his word went 0:30:02.040 --> 0:30:06.800 where his body did, not in heal, but in his 0:30:07.880 --> 0:30:09.680 Lazarus died. 0:30:09.840 --> 0:30:14.680 That's the man's name, Lazarus. He died because Jesus delayed coming. 0:30:15.520 --> 0:30:19.520 And when he got to the place finally late Martha 0:30:19.680 --> 0:30:23.680 was upset about it, saying, Lord, if you would have 0:30:23.720 --> 0:30:26.080 been here John, chapter eleven, verse twenty one, check this out. 0:30:26.640 --> 0:30:28.120 My brother would not have died. 0:30:30.560 --> 0:30:35.920 Why did we refuse a request Jesus that would have 0:30:36.000 --> 0:30:38.520 resulted in a healing? You could have done something? 0:30:39.000 --> 0:30:40.040 Da have anything in. 0:30:39.960 --> 0:30:42.400 Your life today that you feel like secretly God could 0:30:42.400 --> 0:30:44.240 have done something about and he didn't. 0:30:45.960 --> 0:30:47.680 Because many times it can be. 0:30:47.760 --> 0:30:51.600 Painful to praise God for being on time when you 0:30:51.640 --> 0:30:54.480 feel like He just stood back and watched stuff happen 0:30:54.560 --> 0:30:58.960 to you that didn't happen to others, watch stuff happen 0:30:59.000 --> 0:31:02.320 to you that you know evil, What stuff happen in 0:31:02.360 --> 0:31:07.080 your life that he could have stopped. She said, Lord, 0:31:07.680 --> 0:31:10.960 if you would have been here, he wouldn't have died. 0:31:11.120 --> 0:31:14.960 And Jesus verse twenty two, here's these words from Martha. 0:31:15.080 --> 0:31:20.560 But I know that even now, God will give you 0:31:20.640 --> 0:31:21.400 whatever you ask. 0:31:21.520 --> 0:31:25.200 What's she talking about. It can't be resurrection. 0:31:26.600 --> 0:31:31.400 We've never seen a resurrection before. But she understands something 0:31:31.440 --> 0:31:35.640 about Jesus. She's heard and teach, She's watched him work, 0:31:36.120 --> 0:31:39.960 she's seen him move, she's felt his presence. She has 0:31:40.120 --> 0:31:43.440 understood that he has this propensity when you get in 0:31:43.480 --> 0:31:48.040 his proximity, to make things possible that seemed otherwise impossible. 0:31:48.440 --> 0:31:49.120 And she said, I. 0:31:49.160 --> 0:31:52.240 Don't know why you said no when we ask you 0:31:52.280 --> 0:31:55.800 to come, but I know what I know that even 0:31:55.880 --> 0:31:58.600 now I need you to high five somebody and say 0:31:58.680 --> 0:32:03.120 I know what I know. I don't know why God 0:32:03.200 --> 0:32:05.600 didn't do it, but I know what I know. 0:32:05.960 --> 0:32:07.080 He can still do it. 0:32:07.160 --> 0:32:10.400 Right now, I find somebody else. 0:32:10.160 --> 0:32:13.840 Say I know what I know. I don't know where 0:32:13.880 --> 0:32:16.440 it's gonna come from, but I know what I know. 0:32:16.920 --> 0:32:18.480 God's got what I need. 0:32:18.560 --> 0:32:21.680 He can't supply it even still. 0:32:24.280 --> 0:32:27.160 I feel God on that sys. I know what I know. 0:32:29.560 --> 0:32:31.760 I don't know what kind of things you're able to 0:32:31.800 --> 0:32:34.600 do that we haven't seen yet. And my brother is 0:32:34.640 --> 0:32:37.880 in the ground, and my kid is on drugs, and 0:32:38.040 --> 0:32:41.600 my life is really in tatters, and I'm in recovery, 0:32:41.920 --> 0:32:44.440 and I got a brother in prison, and I'm in 0:32:44.480 --> 0:32:47.280 the middle of this custody battle, and I get some 0:32:47.480 --> 0:32:50.000 legal problems, and I got an addiction. 0:32:50.200 --> 0:32:52.960 I can't quit. I don't know what you can do 0:32:53.120 --> 0:32:53.640 about that. 0:32:54.120 --> 0:32:55.400 But I know what I know. 0:32:56.000 --> 0:32:57.040 Yo here right. 0:32:56.920 --> 0:32:58.000 Now, see it? 0:32:58.200 --> 0:32:58.520 Lord? 0:33:01.840 --> 0:33:07.600 What f fife? Everybody in your section say, I know 0:33:07.680 --> 0:33:08.040 what I. 0:33:08.080 --> 0:33:15.600 Know, know what I know. I don't know why he 0:33:15.720 --> 0:33:18.280 said no. I don't know why. 0:33:18.320 --> 0:33:21.120 My roommate got an engagement ring and she's a hellion 0:33:22.880 --> 0:33:24.880 and I'm pure and single. I don't know, but I 0:33:24.960 --> 0:33:28.440 know what I know. One day in his courts, one 0:33:28.520 --> 0:33:32.400 day in his house is better than anywhere else. And blessed, 0:33:32.440 --> 0:33:35.880 this is a man who does not walk in the council. Y'all, 0:33:35.880 --> 0:33:39.719 calm down. I'm trying to teach a first five first 0:33:40.120 --> 0:33:48.240 Bible study on a god who turns water into why 0:33:51.560 --> 0:33:54.160 somebody said the other day. You know what they said 0:33:54.160 --> 0:33:56.360 about you on this blog. I said no, but I 0:33:56.400 --> 0:34:00.880 know what I know. It doesn't matter. I know what 0:34:00.960 --> 0:34:01.200 I know. 0:34:02.760 --> 0:34:03.640 Yeah, I know what I know. 0:34:04.720 --> 0:34:08.120 The mystery of this text is just as much of 0:34:08.160 --> 0:34:09.480 a message as the lesson. 0:34:10.640 --> 0:34:14.160 Let me say that again. The mystery of this. 0:34:14.239 --> 0:34:18.320 Text is just as much of a message as the lesson. 0:34:20.480 --> 0:34:26.200 Because the consumers didn't know how the miracle happened. 0:34:28.320 --> 0:34:29.239 The servants did. 0:34:31.719 --> 0:34:34.600 This is where I think when I sat down with 0:34:34.640 --> 0:34:37.320 my son, you know, and or got on the phone 0:34:37.320 --> 0:34:39.279 with him and said, I want to give you. 0:34:40.719 --> 0:34:42.239 I want to give you a process that. 0:34:42.200 --> 0:34:43.239 You can do. 0:34:43.280 --> 0:34:45.360 You know, if he was having a bad day, I 0:34:45.400 --> 0:34:47.800 probably could have cash after him some money and he 0:34:47.840 --> 0:34:52.040 would have been happy. But he would have got the money, 0:34:52.680 --> 0:34:56.680 he would have spent the money, and now he feels 0:34:56.719 --> 0:35:07.000 worse because did you really need three? I'm realizing something 0:35:07.000 --> 0:35:08.879 about Jesus, because how many of you I'm not even 0:35:08.880 --> 0:35:10.279 gonna look at you when I asked this, wait, just 0:35:10.360 --> 0:35:12.200 raise your hand for your ow accountability. How many got 0:35:12.200 --> 0:35:13.920 something in your life right now that's taken longer than 0:35:13.920 --> 0:35:20.080 it should if God is bid? Okay, how many got 0:35:20.080 --> 0:35:22.640 something in your life right now? That you feel like 0:35:24.680 --> 0:35:30.799 God must be telling me. No, he might, he might, 0:35:32.680 --> 0:35:36.240 he might one time in the Bible, David King David 0:35:36.280 --> 0:35:37.880 he wanted to build a temple for God. 0:35:38.000 --> 0:35:42.120 Who better to do it? He wrote all the songs? 0:35:42.360 --> 0:35:46.080 Why not build the house that would house the songs 0:35:46.080 --> 0:35:47.399 that he wrote for God? 0:35:48.960 --> 0:35:50.040 But he didn't get to do it. 0:35:52.120 --> 0:35:54.319 In fact, the prophet told him, go ahead, do it, man, 0:35:54.480 --> 0:35:57.920 that sounds good. And God stopped the prophet in his tracks, 0:35:57.920 --> 0:36:00.120 and the prophet had to pivot and turn back and say, 0:36:00.280 --> 0:36:02.120 I went home and prayed about that thing, and dude, 0:36:02.120 --> 0:36:03.880 I love you so much, and you are so amazing, 0:36:03.920 --> 0:36:06.839 and you are so incredible as a leader. I thought, well, 0:36:06.840 --> 0:36:08.400 surely God will let him do it, and God will 0:36:08.400 --> 0:36:09.759 say yes to you. I mean, you want to build 0:36:09.760 --> 0:36:12.120 God a temple. Why wouldn't God get behind that? It 0:36:12.200 --> 0:36:17.680 is a good thing in your heart. But the Lord said, well, 0:36:18.920 --> 0:36:26.919 he didn't say no. He said not you. That's hard 0:36:26.960 --> 0:36:27.239 to hear. 0:36:30.120 --> 0:36:30.440 Not you. 0:36:31.600 --> 0:36:33.360 He said, your son Solomon is going to do it. 0:36:33.400 --> 0:36:41.080 You got too much blood on your hands. But I'm 0:36:41.120 --> 0:36:47.280 still going to do it through you. And David spent 0:36:47.320 --> 0:36:53.279 the rest of his life storing up the materials to 0:36:53.400 --> 0:36:54.200 hand over. 0:36:56.080 --> 0:36:57.440 For a project. 0:36:58.800 --> 0:37:01.759 That he would never person suddenly receive the benefit from him. 0:37:07.600 --> 0:37:09.439 This is the part of the sermon that you leave 0:37:09.480 --> 0:37:13.800 out if your goal is a shout. But my goal 0:37:13.880 --> 0:37:17.840 is not to just give you a shout in church, 0:37:19.040 --> 0:37:21.880 because if you shout, what do you have a sore throat. 0:37:24.760 --> 0:37:26.239 What we have to learn to. 0:37:26.239 --> 0:37:30.839 Do is realize that Jesus is a miracle worker. Yes, 0:37:31.800 --> 0:37:34.600 Jesus is the savior who paid for our sins on 0:37:34.640 --> 0:37:36.880 the cross, and that is the purpose he came for 0:37:37.239 --> 0:37:40.240 to rise from the grave, to have dominion over death 0:37:40.560 --> 0:37:43.080 so that we could call on his name and be saved. Yes, 0:37:43.480 --> 0:37:50.680 he is also a teacher, and a good teacher knows 0:37:51.160 --> 0:37:52.480 when to go. 0:37:58.440 --> 0:38:01.400 Maybe he is going. 0:38:01.160 --> 0:38:05.800 Slow because he wants to show you something. 0:38:08.280 --> 0:38:10.600 I hired a guy to teach me guitar years ago, 0:38:11.239 --> 0:38:15.320 and I went to one lesson. He seemed more interested 0:38:15.400 --> 0:38:18.600 in impressing me with how fast he could play it 0:38:19.280 --> 0:38:22.560 than showing me how I could. I thought, this won't work. 0:38:23.360 --> 0:38:25.600 If your whole goal is showing me how much you 0:38:25.640 --> 0:38:28.680 can shred. I leave knowing nothing, and you feel good 0:38:28.719 --> 0:38:32.279 about yourself. The proof that you are good at this 0:38:33.360 --> 0:38:36.560 is that you can slow it down enough that I 0:38:36.560 --> 0:38:39.760 can watch and say, huh, so I do third thread, 0:38:40.040 --> 0:38:44.000 fourth thread, sixth thread, first spread. I mean, if he 0:38:44.120 --> 0:38:48.359 really wanted to teach me, he asked to slow it down. 0:38:49.800 --> 0:38:54.040 We asked Jesus to teach us things, and we're surprised 0:38:54.120 --> 0:38:58.440 when he slows it down. We asked him to teach 0:38:58.520 --> 0:39:01.960 us to be more loving. We are surprised when he 0:39:02.480 --> 0:39:06.280 slows it down. We asked him to give us patience. 0:39:08.600 --> 0:39:14.959 Bad idea. You have seven days of traffic to look forward. 0:39:14.640 --> 0:39:17.600 To the worst traffic of your life. 0:39:17.719 --> 0:39:20.399 You are gonna have Atlanta, Georgia. 0:39:19.880 --> 0:39:21.040 Traffic in Waxaw. 0:39:21.400 --> 0:39:24.239 If you pray for patience, God will stack the deck 0:39:24.520 --> 0:39:28.320 to give you a jazz for and he'll slow it down. 0:39:29.280 --> 0:39:30.200 I wanted to learn. 0:39:30.360 --> 0:39:32.480 When I was in high school, I had some friends 0:39:32.480 --> 0:39:33.319 on the step team. 0:39:33.600 --> 0:39:35.320 I thought that looked really cool. 0:39:35.600 --> 0:39:38.960 I said, teach me just a simple thing on the 0:39:39.000 --> 0:39:40.520 step team, And so they. 0:39:40.440 --> 0:39:42.719 Went real fast. They went something like I see if 0:39:42.719 --> 0:39:43.399 I remember, like. 0:39:48.040 --> 0:39:54.360 See how fast I did. That took about four months. 0:39:56.320 --> 0:39:57.359 I could just do it now. 0:39:57.440 --> 0:39:59.240 It's been like thirty years now. 0:40:00.040 --> 0:40:03.479 But I swear we were going uh uh. 0:40:05.840 --> 0:40:13.359 Not because they couldn't do it because I couldn't do it. 0:40:14.480 --> 0:40:17.880 God's not going slow because he can't do it. 0:40:19.640 --> 0:40:23.080 But somebody who knows what I'm talking about, Let's get 0:40:23.080 --> 0:40:28.240 in this. Let's get in this. Yeah. Yeah. God didn't 0:40:28.320 --> 0:40:34.520 say no because he can't. God said slow because you 0:40:34.680 --> 0:40:37.680 can't yet. But if we can do it. 0:40:43.480 --> 0:40:47.040 I still remember this all those years because. 0:40:46.760 --> 0:40:48.360 They slowed it down for me. 0:40:48.560 --> 0:40:51.200 You gotta go slow for Steven. Steven can't do all 0:40:51.239 --> 0:40:53.400 that real quick. He's got a good heart, but he 0:40:53.440 --> 0:40:57.040 needs it real slow. Peter's real slow. John's kind of slow, 0:40:57.239 --> 0:41:00.000 Nathaniel's kind of slow. The Disciples are kind of slow. 0:41:00.440 --> 0:41:03.440 How many are willing to admit it may take God 0:41:03.600 --> 0:41:06.600 slowing this down in my life, and it might not 0:41:06.680 --> 0:41:10.000 be giving it to me when I want it out 0:41:10.040 --> 0:41:21.640 of kindness. God making it convenient isn't always kind. I 0:41:21.680 --> 0:41:24.880 think it would be amazing, right if he said, okay, 0:41:25.000 --> 0:41:29.560 y'all are out of wine. Okay, and Mary says they're 0:41:29.600 --> 0:41:34.040 out of wine, and Jesus says, I already got that 0:41:34.080 --> 0:41:34.680 taken care of. 0:41:37.520 --> 0:41:40.400 I found the will. Because y'all picture this miracle like 0:41:40.440 --> 0:41:45.879 they had a water hose. This water was not ionized. 0:41:45.960 --> 0:41:47.160 There is no faucet. 0:41:47.760 --> 0:41:50.360 Picture the miracle. Picture the miracle, Picture the miracle. 0:41:50.600 --> 0:41:52.600 They said, we're out of wine. Now we're running out 0:41:52.600 --> 0:41:53.840 of wine, not we're gonna be out of wine in 0:41:53.840 --> 0:41:55.640 a couple hours. Let's do something about it. Now we're 0:41:55.680 --> 0:41:58.839 out of wine, when now we need wine whin? 0:41:59.080 --> 0:41:59.440 Now? 0:41:59.600 --> 0:42:02.120 This is us frustrating about this kind of preaching, right, 0:42:02.400 --> 0:42:05.280 It's like wonderful, awesome, glorious Gray, You're. 0:42:05.160 --> 0:42:06.240 Doing steps on the stage. 0:42:06.280 --> 0:42:07.880 But I'm just struggling through things that are real in 0:42:07.920 --> 0:42:11.600 my life and I don't have time for that right now. Well, well, well, 0:42:11.760 --> 0:42:18.560 maybe there is something that Jesus wants to do in 0:42:18.600 --> 0:42:23.359 the process that will teach you where to go back 0:42:23.400 --> 0:42:31.200 when you need it again, because I'm thinking he would 0:42:31.239 --> 0:42:35.000 have the power to go out to the well wherever 0:42:35.040 --> 0:42:36.520 they're getting the water from. 0:42:37.000 --> 0:42:38.680 I need to slow this down one more. 0:42:38.560 --> 0:42:41.839 Time, just to get my point across. Okay, Jesus, they 0:42:41.880 --> 0:42:44.360 have no more wine, What does that have to do 0:42:44.400 --> 0:42:50.080 with me? Right, We've got a request, a refusal, and 0:42:50.120 --> 0:42:52.920 then a revelation. Well, what's the revelation? Of course, he 0:42:53.120 --> 0:42:57.000 is the new wine. There's an old covenant represented by 0:42:57.000 --> 0:43:00.000 the water. There's a new covenant that will be made 0:43:00.160 --> 0:43:03.480 in his blood and ratified by his death, and he's 0:43:03.480 --> 0:43:05.919 showing us that to be filled with his spirit. All 0:43:05.960 --> 0:43:11.000 of that is symbolized in the text. But simply put, 0:43:11.680 --> 0:43:13.360 this would have took a while to do what he 0:43:13.400 --> 0:43:15.880 told him to do. I love what Mary said in 0:43:15.960 --> 0:43:20.200 verse five. Do whatever he tells you. Maybe that's the 0:43:20.280 --> 0:43:25.000 lesson he's been trying to teach us, y'all, because we've 0:43:25.000 --> 0:43:27.320 been doing all kinds of math in our life about 0:43:28.239 --> 0:43:30.080 this and that, and this needs to happen and that 0:43:30.160 --> 0:43:32.560 needs to happen. And Mary goes, do whatever he tells you. 0:43:33.680 --> 0:43:34.319 That's the math. 0:43:35.560 --> 0:43:38.480 A few months ago, we were online talking about girl math. 0:43:40.200 --> 0:43:43.000 You remember that, And then Holly showed me one the 0:43:43.040 --> 0:43:46.839 other day called mom math. It was when you're calculating 0:43:46.840 --> 0:43:48.720 all the times we need to be there at seven, 0:43:48.800 --> 0:43:50.920 so we need to have our shoes on by six fifteen, 0:43:51.200 --> 0:43:52.640 so that means we need to wake up by It 0:43:52.760 --> 0:43:53.360 was hilarious. 0:43:53.400 --> 0:43:56.640 I saw it. I said, oh, well, this week. 0:43:56.520 --> 0:44:01.520 I'm preaching about Mary math and Mary math goes like this, 0:44:02.160 --> 0:44:04.160 We got no wine and a lot of people. Do 0:44:04.239 --> 0:44:10.319 whatever he tells you. Stop letting the math distract you. 0:44:12.800 --> 0:44:15.719 I'll have enough time. I'll have enough years. Yet I'm 0:44:15.760 --> 0:44:17.879 not old enough to do that. I'm not young enough 0:44:17.920 --> 0:44:21.520 to do that. Don't let the math distract you. Don't 0:44:21.680 --> 0:44:24.960 let the math distract you. For as we will see, 0:44:25.200 --> 0:44:28.319 five loaves and two fish can feed five thousand if 0:44:28.320 --> 0:44:30.920 you do what he says. Now, if you don't do 0:44:31.000 --> 0:44:33.319 what he says, you're on your own. Get your calculator 0:44:33.320 --> 0:44:36.200 and good luck. But if you do what he says 0:44:36.239 --> 0:44:40.160 in each moment, if you'll get attuned to the process 0:44:41.440 --> 0:44:45.319 instead of just being a consumer, you will not need 0:44:45.360 --> 0:44:50.200 God to give you something external to produce something wonderful. 0:44:51.400 --> 0:44:55.360 For the Bible says that when Mary activated the presence 0:44:55.400 --> 0:44:57.879 of Jesus, what changed. They're out of wine that has 0:44:57.920 --> 0:44:59.480 nothing to do with my hour has not yet come. 0:44:59.600 --> 0:45:01.840 When he's that's my hour, he's talking about his death. 0:45:03.400 --> 0:45:05.120 He's not saying I won't do it because there's not 0:45:05.120 --> 0:45:12.640 time yet. He's re establishing the big picture. There's a request, 0:45:13.040 --> 0:45:16.920 a refusal. That's where some of you are today. The refusal, Well, 0:45:16.960 --> 0:45:19.239 life won't let me, Well, they won't let me. Will 0:45:19.280 --> 0:45:21.960 I tried that. I've been trying that for years. The refusal, 0:45:22.719 --> 0:45:23.480 And then there. 0:45:23.400 --> 0:45:30.000 Is get ready a reset. He reminds her, my hour 0:45:30.120 --> 0:45:33.799 is not yet calm, this is not my ultimate destination. 0:45:34.840 --> 0:45:38.160 And then she realizes there's nothing that she needs to 0:45:38.239 --> 0:45:41.560 convince him to do. All she has to do is 0:45:41.680 --> 0:45:47.160 convince them to do what he says the moment, she says, 0:45:47.360 --> 0:45:50.600 do whatever he tells you. It's like me with Graham 0:45:50.640 --> 0:45:54.960 and wrestling. She doesn't know much, but she's coaching. 0:45:55.000 --> 0:46:00.920 Good you hear me. You don't have to know that much. 0:46:02.360 --> 0:46:04.719 You just have to get going in the next thing 0:46:04.800 --> 0:46:10.719 he tells you to do, which meant for this miracle, 0:46:10.760 --> 0:46:14.960 which meant for this moment, which meant for this occasion 0:46:15.840 --> 0:46:18.520 that they had to go out get the water from 0:46:18.600 --> 0:46:21.640 the well. Why did Jesus not just bless the well 0:46:21.719 --> 0:46:24.960 and everything that came out of it was wine? Why 0:46:25.000 --> 0:46:29.080 are we taking bucket after bucket after bucket, putting it 0:46:29.239 --> 0:46:31.600 down in the well, drawing it out of the well, 0:46:31.880 --> 0:46:35.480 carrying it into the house, finding the jars. We've dumped 0:46:35.480 --> 0:46:37.319 a bucket. Do you know how big these buckets were? 0:46:37.520 --> 0:46:41.799 Two gallons? Do you remember how big the jars are? 0:46:42.280 --> 0:46:47.279 Thirty? That's like, Hey, let me do some preacher math 0:46:47.320 --> 0:46:49.600 real quick. What's that like? 0:46:51.000 --> 0:46:55.320 Fifteen ish, Yeah, twenty to thirty gallons, so there's some variants. 0:46:55.320 --> 0:46:58.880 But and now I got to do this two gallons 0:46:58.880 --> 0:47:02.640 at a time. But that seems pointless. 0:47:03.680 --> 0:47:08.239 If you're Jesus, go out bless the well and then 0:47:08.280 --> 0:47:09.000 we'll just take it in. 0:47:10.160 --> 0:47:12.200 But the real revelation to me was in this. 0:47:12.440 --> 0:47:13.719 I think you missed this when I read. I think 0:47:13.760 --> 0:47:14.640 you missed it when I read it. 0:47:15.840 --> 0:47:18.160 While they were going out to the well and back 0:47:18.200 --> 0:47:23.879 and forth, there wasn't just two gallon bucket, thirty gallon, 0:47:24.000 --> 0:47:25.200 fifteen fillings. 0:47:24.800 --> 0:47:26.080 Which would have taken a while. 0:47:27.000 --> 0:47:31.120 The Bible says, in verse chapter seven, Jesus said to 0:47:31.160 --> 0:47:32.360 the servants. 0:47:31.920 --> 0:47:34.000 Watch this very carefully, very carefully. 0:47:34.200 --> 0:47:36.040 Now I'm coming to the point of the message that 0:47:36.080 --> 0:47:37.520 I preached all the way here to get you to, 0:47:37.760 --> 0:47:40.000 because I see you in your life struggling with some stuff, 0:47:40.080 --> 0:47:41.960 and I see you in your life dealing with some things, 0:47:42.040 --> 0:47:43.560 and I see you in your life going through a 0:47:43.600 --> 0:47:46.560 process that at this maybe this intersection of your life 0:47:46.560 --> 0:47:49.440 seems a little pointless. The Bible says, Jesus said to 0:47:49.480 --> 0:47:51.640 the servants, fill the jars with water. 0:47:52.000 --> 0:47:57.799 So they filled them to the brim. Read again, he 0:47:57.880 --> 0:47:58.600 said fill. 0:47:58.400 --> 0:48:05.720 The jars with water, so they filled them to the brim. 0:48:05.880 --> 0:48:09.560 Verse eight. Then he told them, now draw some out. 0:48:11.120 --> 0:48:14.160 What's your point, pastor you're really slowing down here. Do 0:48:14.239 --> 0:48:16.880 you have a purpose or struggling on how to close? 0:48:17.000 --> 0:48:20.279 Or do you just want the parking lot to be 0:48:20.360 --> 0:48:22.160 chaotic between services today? 0:48:22.200 --> 0:48:23.160 Are you sadistic? 0:48:23.640 --> 0:48:23.960 Huh? 0:48:24.880 --> 0:48:28.320 I'm slowing it down to show you something. I'm slowing 0:48:28.320 --> 0:48:29.799 it down to show you somethingting verse some of them there. 0:48:29.840 --> 0:48:35.040 Then you said to them, fill the jars with water. 0:48:35.160 --> 0:48:38.600 So they filled them to the brim, which is fine, 0:48:38.680 --> 0:48:42.680 but this is an emergency. We have no wine and 0:48:42.719 --> 0:48:44.759 a lot of people in this culture that was the 0:48:44.880 --> 0:48:47.040 ultimate shame because I know what some of you are thinking. 0:48:47.280 --> 0:48:50.120 It was probably good that the alcohol got cut off 0:48:50.440 --> 0:48:52.520 at this point in the week long wedding. 0:48:52.560 --> 0:48:54.720 Maybe that was God making them run out of wine. 0:48:55.000 --> 0:48:55.759 It's symbolic. 0:48:57.160 --> 0:49:01.240 It's a culture of honor and there is shame present, 0:49:02.080 --> 0:49:04.880 and so Jesus is stepping in not to deal with 0:49:04.960 --> 0:49:07.719 their alcoholic consumption situation. 0:49:09.640 --> 0:49:16.280 He's dealing with their shame. And one thing that feels 0:49:16.320 --> 0:49:16.759 really bad. 0:49:16.760 --> 0:49:19.560 I don't know about you, but I hate the feeling 0:49:19.600 --> 0:49:26.320 in life like I've fallen behind, the embarrassment of thinking 0:49:26.560 --> 0:49:28.319 I should know how to do that by now and 0:49:28.360 --> 0:49:32.759 I don't. The embarrassment of feeling like I should have 0:49:32.800 --> 0:49:34.320 my family here by. 0:49:34.160 --> 0:49:35.160 Now and I don't. 0:49:36.920 --> 0:49:40.279 The embarrassment of going I should have whipped this six 0:49:40.360 --> 0:49:45.880 years ago and I didn't. Now, the fear of falling 0:49:45.960 --> 0:49:50.839 behind has been combined with the reality of being at 0:49:50.880 --> 0:49:55.880 the bottom. There is no wine. This is an emergency. 0:49:55.920 --> 0:50:02.120 This is urgent. So why would it Jesus let them 0:50:02.160 --> 0:50:06.080 fill one jar and start distributing it. 0:50:07.520 --> 0:50:09.240 Why read the text. 0:50:10.160 --> 0:50:13.200 It says they had to draw out the water and 0:50:13.360 --> 0:50:17.200 fill them to the brim. That means they had to 0:50:17.239 --> 0:50:20.560 fill all six before anything changed. 0:50:22.440 --> 0:50:23.439 It wasn't as if. 0:50:23.360 --> 0:50:26.520 They poured the water and the water became wine, because 0:50:26.560 --> 0:50:30.240 that would have made sense. And if it made sense, 0:50:30.360 --> 0:50:33.840 then maybe they would have been addicted to it instead 0:50:33.840 --> 0:50:40.000 of believing in him. So they're pouring water. Water doesn't 0:50:40.040 --> 0:50:41.920 turn to wine. I don't care how much of it 0:50:41.960 --> 0:50:47.120 you pour. There's no grapes in this situation. There is 0:50:47.239 --> 0:50:50.480 nothing to suggest this is going to work. So the 0:50:50.560 --> 0:50:54.800 service pouring and pouring and sweating and pouring and sweating 0:50:54.920 --> 0:50:57.280 and pouring and checking anything. 0:50:56.920 --> 0:50:59.600 Happened yet if you didn't getting wine, did he bring 0:50:59.600 --> 0:51:00.000 the wine? 0:51:00.080 --> 0:51:01.200 And not yet? 0:51:01.480 --> 0:51:03.040 And so now imagine they. 0:51:02.960 --> 0:51:04.160 Get the first jar full. 0:51:04.320 --> 0:51:08.239 That's fifteen that's fifteen buckets full. There's plenty to demonstrate that. 0:51:08.280 --> 0:51:10.640 I take you seriously. And and and the head the 0:51:10.680 --> 0:51:13.319 head server comes over and says, uh, Jesus, can. 0:51:13.200 --> 0:51:14.200 We take some over to the people now? 0:51:14.280 --> 0:51:15.520 Kind of get them calmed down a little bit because 0:51:15.520 --> 0:51:17.160 there's no wine, and you know how even give we 0:51:17.200 --> 0:51:18.279 just say one over there and we'll keep one up 0:51:18.320 --> 0:51:22.360 the others. He said, no, no, no, not now. Fill the 0:51:22.400 --> 0:51:26.799 next one, fill the next one. But can we take 0:51:26.800 --> 0:51:31.120 this one? No, not now, not now. 0:51:32.520 --> 0:51:33.200 It was not. 0:51:35.120 --> 0:51:42.359 Until every jar was filled to the brim and the 0:51:42.400 --> 0:51:47.680 water was drawn out of the last filled jar that 0:51:47.800 --> 0:51:48.720 it became Why. 0:51:50.920 --> 0:51:55.320 Why did God make every jar have to be filled? 0:51:56.360 --> 0:51:59.840 Why has God allowed you to pray about this for 0:52:00.239 --> 0:52:04.320 so long? Why has God not just waved his wand 0:52:04.480 --> 0:52:11.840 over our situation? Why did he reset in order to reveal? 0:52:14.360 --> 0:52:17.840 It is only after the jars are filled. It is 0:52:17.920 --> 0:52:20.480 only after I'm telling you what I know from my life. 0:52:20.560 --> 0:52:23.520 It is only after you have done it and done 0:52:23.520 --> 0:52:26.600 it and done it and I can't speak for everybody 0:52:26.600 --> 0:52:28.480 in the room, but somebody online needs to hear this. 0:52:28.520 --> 0:52:29.600 Give me my camera please. 0:52:30.160 --> 0:52:35.960 It is sometimes when I am almost done trying that 0:52:36.000 --> 0:52:40.520 at that moment in time, that's when God says, now 0:52:42.600 --> 0:52:47.040 it's almost It's not when i'm fresh. It's not when 0:52:47.040 --> 0:52:48.279 I feel like I got this. 0:52:49.280 --> 0:52:50.560 It's not when it makes sense. 0:52:50.600 --> 0:52:53.120 It's not when it should have happened on a human schedule. 0:52:53.400 --> 0:52:54.040 It's at that. 0:52:54.000 --> 0:52:55.680 Moment where I'm like, if I have to pour one 0:52:55.680 --> 0:52:58.000 more two gallon bucket, if I have to do this 0:52:58.040 --> 0:53:01.600 one more time, and nothing is happening, but everything is 0:53:01.719 --> 0:53:06.680 changing in your life. For every time you pore when 0:53:06.719 --> 0:53:09.719 your eyes can't perceive, it. 0:53:09.760 --> 0:53:11.480 Is a building of your. 0:53:11.320 --> 0:53:14.880 Faith that is producing within you the strength to know 0:53:15.760 --> 0:53:19.640 where your help comes from, the strength to know where 0:53:19.719 --> 0:53:22.759 grace comes from. The strength to know that there is 0:53:22.800 --> 0:53:32.160 a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins. Now 0:53:33.400 --> 0:53:34.319 you can take it. 0:53:35.320 --> 0:53:37.560 Some of the things that you thought in your life were. 0:53:37.480 --> 0:53:39.320 Rejection were not rejection. 0:53:39.520 --> 0:53:42.319 You just weren't ready. 0:53:45.000 --> 0:53:50.680 God is speaking to somebody today who has been told no, 0:53:52.239 --> 0:53:52.919 or so you thought. 0:53:54.800 --> 0:53:55.920 The Lord didn't even say no. 0:53:57.640 --> 0:54:01.920 He said not now, not now. 0:54:03.600 --> 0:54:05.080 For the one who lost a loved one, and you're 0:54:05.120 --> 0:54:09.799 playing God, your prayer has been, will you help me 0:54:09.840 --> 0:54:13.799 understand why this happened? We may never understand certain things 0:54:13.800 --> 0:54:15.040 on this side of heaven. 0:54:15.239 --> 0:54:16.800 God said, not now. 0:54:18.280 --> 0:54:20.160 Now we know in part. Now we see in part. 0:54:20.200 --> 0:54:23.880 Now we prophesy in part. But when what is incomplete 0:54:23.920 --> 0:54:25.520 has been made complete, then we will know. Then we 0:54:25.560 --> 0:54:26.440 will know. Then we will know. 0:54:26.520 --> 0:54:27.120 Then we will know. 0:54:27.440 --> 0:54:30.000 And your job in the meantime is not to understand. 0:54:30.040 --> 0:54:34.600 It is to obey and do whatever he tells you. 0:54:36.200 --> 0:54:39.759 Because I'm telling you, man, some of the stuff that 0:54:39.800 --> 0:54:41.880 God is doing in your life don't happen till all 0:54:41.880 --> 0:54:47.319 the jars are full. And I understand that you fill 0:54:47.400 --> 0:54:49.799 three jars. I understand that you've worked on it for 0:54:49.840 --> 0:54:52.520 four years. I understand it you went back five times, 0:54:55.800 --> 0:54:57.839 but sometimes you got to fill all six. 0:54:59.120 --> 0:55:03.240 In order to see who he is. Because the key. 0:55:03.080 --> 0:55:05.239 Verse of this passage has nothing to do with when 0:55:05.239 --> 0:55:07.640 they drank the wine. It's verse eleven of John chapter two. 0:55:08.719 --> 0:55:10.600 Bible says this was the first of the signs that 0:55:10.680 --> 0:55:12.440 he performed, and. 0:55:12.440 --> 0:55:14.800 He revealed his glory. 0:55:14.880 --> 0:55:22.240 He revealed his glory, He revealed his glory. He refused 0:55:22.840 --> 0:55:28.360 the request so he could reveal his glory, so that 0:55:28.440 --> 0:55:34.680 he reset your expectation, so that he could reveal his glory. 0:55:34.840 --> 0:55:37.279 Because if he just gave you the wine, you'd be 0:55:37.320 --> 0:55:41.560 a consumer. But if he teaches you to trust him, 0:55:41.560 --> 0:55:46.040 you'll be a producer. And there is a process for joy. 0:55:46.880 --> 0:55:50.400 There is a process for trust. There is a process 0:55:50.440 --> 0:55:55.120 for confidence. There is a process. That's what the pouring is. 0:55:55.320 --> 0:55:58.040 It's the process. This is his first son. He will 0:55:58.080 --> 0:56:03.360 do many more, but first you must poor. And Jesus 0:56:03.440 --> 0:56:07.640 is so awesome that the man who tasted the wine said, 0:56:07.719 --> 0:56:10.360 normally they switch out the cheap stuff at this point, 0:56:11.440 --> 0:56:12.760 but you did something different. 0:56:14.040 --> 0:56:15.160 I came to announce. 0:56:15.680 --> 0:56:19.080 Get ready for God to do something different in your life, 0:56:20.480 --> 0:56:22.759 different than you thought, different than you plan, different than 0:56:22.800 --> 0:56:24.600 you hope, different than you put on your list. 0:56:29.440 --> 0:56:35.760 You saved the best till now. 0:56:37.960 --> 0:56:41.520 There are some things in your life that in a 0:56:41.600 --> 0:56:46.160 previous season you were not ready to receive it. But 0:56:46.480 --> 0:56:51.440 God brought you under this word today. Why because it's 0:56:51.480 --> 0:56:56.399 a now moment. It's a now moment. God said, now 0:56:56.600 --> 0:57:00.560 draw it out. Now the jars are filled. Now now 0:57:00.719 --> 0:57:03.360 somebody shout, now, now over. 0:57:03.160 --> 0:57:05.400 Your mental health. Now, over your. 0:57:05.280 --> 0:57:21.480 Business, now over your dream now now it wasn't about you. 0:57:21.480 --> 0:57:28.040 You weren't rejected, you weren't ready yet. I remember when 0:57:28.080 --> 0:57:30.520 I first wanted to write a song with Matt Redman. 0:57:31.720 --> 0:57:34.439 He's the greatest worship songwriter that you could ever meet. 0:57:34.480 --> 0:57:36.800 From the UK or maybe anywhere else in the world. 0:57:37.520 --> 0:57:39.160 I said, write a song with me, write a song 0:57:39.200 --> 0:57:41.600 with me, write a song with me. He was very 0:57:41.600 --> 0:57:49.240 British and polite. He was very passively, kindly affirmative in 0:57:49.320 --> 0:57:53.280 his not now miss yeah mate, we should do that 0:57:53.320 --> 0:57:54.680 one day. Yeah may. 0:57:54.720 --> 0:57:56.200 I'm like, will you could call me mate and write 0:57:56.200 --> 0:57:57.800 a song with me? I want to write a song 0:57:57.800 --> 0:57:58.040 with you. 0:57:58.080 --> 0:58:00.440 This was very early when I was writing songs with 0:58:00.480 --> 0:58:03.440 our team, and I got kind of mad at him 0:58:03.440 --> 0:58:04.640 because I thought, you don't want to write a song 0:58:04.640 --> 0:58:04.840 with me. 0:58:04.920 --> 0:58:05.760 You think I'm just a preacher. 0:58:05.760 --> 0:58:06.800 You don't think I can write a song. I can 0:58:06.840 --> 0:58:08.240 write a song. I'll show you I don't write a song. 0:58:08.920 --> 0:58:12.200 And in the meantime, in the meantime, every said meantime, meantime, meantime, meantime, meantime. 0:58:13.480 --> 0:58:16.120 Along with the incredible team, we wrote songs. We wrote 0:58:16.200 --> 0:58:17.120 songs we wrote songs. 0:58:17.120 --> 0:58:18.720 We wrote songs. We wrote songs. I send them to 0:58:18.720 --> 0:58:20.160 mad I say, art Thee's good, won't you write with me? 0:58:20.240 --> 0:58:21.280 Artie's good? Won't you write with me? 0:58:21.360 --> 0:58:21.520 Once? 0:58:21.600 --> 0:58:23.320 You write with me? And you know what Matt did. 0:58:24.160 --> 0:58:26.680 One day I was preaching and I was up on 0:58:26.680 --> 0:58:30.280 the stage at a big conference, thirty thousand people. He 0:58:30.320 --> 0:58:33.040 was there leading music, and I said a statement in 0:58:33.040 --> 0:58:35.480 my sermon. I was preaching on don't stop on six, 0:58:36.280 --> 0:58:38.240 which I could preach that from the stone jars too. 0:58:40.080 --> 0:58:43.680 And then the line that I said was the promise 0:58:43.760 --> 0:58:49.560 still stands. And he came up to me after my session. 0:58:49.560 --> 0:58:53.680 He goes mate. I said, yes, it was an amazing 0:58:53.720 --> 0:58:56.280 message and that should be a song. 0:58:56.760 --> 0:59:00.520 The promise still stands, And I said, will you write 0:59:00.560 --> 0:59:07.360 it with me? He said yes, so I'm gonna share 0:59:07.400 --> 0:59:14.600 with you. He wasn't saying no, he was saying yes, 0:59:14.680 --> 0:59:21.720 not yet. And I'm glad he told me no because 0:59:21.760 --> 0:59:24.280 it made me go back and dig to find out 0:59:24.480 --> 0:59:32.960 what I had. Chunks, who was my very first person 0:59:33.000 --> 0:59:38.440 who joined the church right after Holly joined it, he 0:59:38.520 --> 0:59:39.400 was there and he heard it. 0:59:39.880 --> 0:59:43.120 We had three hours before we had to fly three hours. 0:59:43.400 --> 0:59:44.880 He said, y'all go right this. 0:59:45.040 --> 0:59:45.680 I said, no, we'll do it. 0:59:45.760 --> 0:59:46.960 We'll do it another time. He said, no, you bear 0:59:46.960 --> 0:59:48.480 to do it now. He might not want to write 0:59:48.520 --> 0:59:51.480 with you after he forgets that sermon. He said, I'll 0:59:51.480 --> 0:59:53.240 get some chicken wings from room service, bring it up 0:59:53.240 --> 0:59:55.280 to the room, and y'all can eat. In the worst 0:59:55.320 --> 0:59:57.200 case scenario, you'll hang out for a couple hours. I 0:59:57.280 --> 0:59:58.600 get everything thing care of. I make sure we don't 0:59:58.600 --> 1:00:00.160 miss the flight. I'll come get you exact lasts moment. 1:00:00.160 --> 1:00:01.840 I come at a very last minute, and I'll get you. 1:00:01.880 --> 1:00:06.560 And we sat there and we got almost nothing. The 1:00:06.600 --> 1:00:09.280 only thing we came away from that that I remember. 1:00:09.000 --> 1:00:18.360 Is walking around these walls. I thought, by now they fall, Well, 1:00:18.400 --> 1:00:21.600 you have never failed me yet. And then we had 1:00:21.640 --> 1:00:25.760 to leave, eat some chicken wings, got on a plane. 1:00:27.640 --> 1:00:28.640 He would text me from. 1:00:28.520 --> 1:00:28.920 Time to time. 1:00:28.960 --> 1:00:31.000 I would text him, and he got He was very persistent. 1:00:31.080 --> 1:00:33.600 He's like, we should work on that thing with the walls, 1:00:33.600 --> 1:00:35.760 and the promise still stands. And we didn't even have 1:00:35.760 --> 1:00:36.920 the line that made him want to write it in 1:00:36.920 --> 1:00:37.439 the song at. 1:00:37.360 --> 1:00:38.120 That point, I don't remember. 1:00:39.440 --> 1:00:40.120 We kept going. 1:00:41.240 --> 1:00:42.680 One day I sent him a thing and went, uh, 1:00:43.280 --> 1:00:47.840 like don don don, that's what it did. And he 1:00:47.880 --> 1:00:49.720 sent it back, and he sent it back, but don 1:00:49.840 --> 1:00:55.960 don Dunn, don don down town. You did it twice 1:00:55.960 --> 1:00:59.960 months more go by, nothing, nothing, nothing, this song. 1:01:01.320 --> 1:01:05.840 And then Chris, you remember Chris, we're finishing up a song, 1:01:05.960 --> 1:01:09.960 the fabled Mountain House. I wish we'd have bought that house. 1:01:09.960 --> 1:01:13.160 We wrote some good songs in that house, and we should. 1:01:12.920 --> 1:01:13.600 Have bought that house. 1:01:13.640 --> 1:01:16.640 But he said, you know, I don't know what you 1:01:16.640 --> 1:01:17.800 want to work on next, but we still have that 1:01:17.800 --> 1:01:18.600 thing with you in Redman. 1:01:19.200 --> 1:01:22.240 I said, the promised dance thing. He said, yeah, and 1:01:22.360 --> 1:01:24.760 start playing it. And something came up. 1:01:24.800 --> 1:01:32.160 I've seen you move, you move the mountains, and I 1:01:32.320 --> 1:01:35.240 believe I'll see you too. 1:01:35.920 --> 1:01:38.000 Okay, now, think about this. 1:01:39.200 --> 1:01:44.560 I thought by now bade fall right. 1:01:45.600 --> 1:01:49.840 You thought by now you'd be different. You thought by 1:01:49.880 --> 1:01:53.240 now would be easy. You thought by now they would 1:01:53.240 --> 1:01:58.040 have apologized. You thought by now they would be productive. 1:01:59.080 --> 1:02:01.960 You thought by now it would have turned around. You 1:02:02.040 --> 1:02:06.080 thought by now it would have lifted. I think it's 1:02:06.120 --> 1:02:08.520 amazing that we wrote a. 1:02:08.520 --> 1:02:09.640 Song together. 1:02:10.960 --> 1:02:17.640 About God in his infinite faithfulness, from a relationship where 1:02:17.680 --> 1:02:21.640 I actually felt I had been rejected and I wonder 1:02:23.040 --> 1:02:27.480 is there an area in your life where you have. 1:02:27.600 --> 1:02:29.040 Called it rejection? 1:02:30.400 --> 1:02:36.360 But now God has been using it to get you ready. Yeah, 1:02:36.920 --> 1:02:39.000 because you thought, well, there's something wrong with me. 1:02:39.080 --> 1:02:43.160 That's why. That's not why he's teaching you something. He's 1:02:43.200 --> 1:02:44.240 teaching you how. 1:02:44.120 --> 1:02:48.920 To fill the jar by faith, say it, Phil, the 1:02:49.120 --> 1:02:52.920 jar by faith. You fill it two gallons at a time, 1:02:53.240 --> 1:02:55.520 and every two gallons you carry and. 1:02:55.480 --> 1:02:58.000 You feel it and it's still water. That's how you 1:02:58.160 --> 1:03:03.200 learn who God is, by gallon by gallon, by gallon. 1:03:03.480 --> 1:03:06.320 I feel like preaching God by the gallon, but I 1:03:06.320 --> 1:03:07.080 don't know who. 1:03:06.960 --> 1:03:09.840 Is for because it's not gonna come all at once. 1:03:10.520 --> 1:03:14.160 But when it happens, when it happens, you'll be saying, 1:03:14.680 --> 1:03:18.720 now he's saved the best till. 1:03:19.280 --> 1:03:31.480 Now getting rain. So yeah, stand up and I'll close 1:03:31.560 --> 1:03:31.920 this thing. 1:03:35.000 --> 1:03:37.240 I can't preach short when I'm talking a message called 1:03:37.280 --> 1:03:41.040 not now.
