therefore i say unto you take no thought for your life what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink nor yet for your body what ye shall put on eat not the life more than meat and the body than raiment behold the fowls of the air for they sow not neither do they reap nor gather into barns yet your heavenly father feedeth them are ye not much more than they which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto a stature and why take ye thought for raiment consider the leaves of the field how they grow they toil not Neither do they spin, and yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all of his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothed the grass that peeled, which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? therefore take no thought saying what shall we eat or what shall we drink or wherewithal shall we be clothed for after all these things do the gentiles seek for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things but seek ye first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you take therefore no thought for the morrow for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof all right i have read from the sixth chapter of Matthew, and I have read all of that to read to you a portion of the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray. Give us this day our daily bread. And I pray that somehow in the very next few minutes, the Holy Spirit, who alone can give these glorious revelations, shall break through to your understanding. And I promise you something. It will be the beginning of a new life, a new day. Literally, you will become a new person. There'll be no place for depression. There'll be no place. in your life for anxiety and fear and worry. Because all of these things are the greatest enemies that you can take into your mind and into your life and into your everyday living. Because we are the children of a loving Heavenly Father, we're entitled to expect that God will provide for us. fully with everything that we need. And remember in the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray, He began our Father. We acknowledge that wonderful relationship of a father and a child. And as children of a loving Heavenly Father, we have a right to expect. That our Heavenly Father will take care of us. He'll provide for our every need. Take your little children. Just take children as a whole. Naturally. Spontaneously. Look to their human parents to supply all of their needs. All of their wants. As a little child, I never worried. I never worried. Where the bread was coming from? Where the food was coming from? I can't ever, as a little girl, at home. My papa was alive. Do you ever worry about where we were going to get the food from on our table? There was papa. I left all the worrying with papa, you know. I knew he would see that there were... Eggs for breakfast. He would bring in the cornmeal for the cornbread. He would bring in the butter. Sure. When I needed new shoes, Papa, I need a new pair of shoes. Look at the soles of these. They're worn thin. Papa would take care of it. In exactly the same way we come to our Heavenly Father. We look to God to supply our every need. And if we do so, in faith and understanding, we shall never look in vain. It is the will of God that we as His children should lead healthy, happy lives, full of joyous experience. That you and I should be... develop freely, steadily, day by day, week by week. That's our Heavenly Father. That's His perfect will. In exactly the same way, when we require such things as food, clothing, protection, all of these things, on and on and on. In prayer, all of these things are included. under the heading of that daily bread. Give us this day our daily bread. That's right. But in order to obtain these things, we have to claim them. We have to recognize God and God alone as the source and the fountainhead of all of our good, our life. first of all, be that transaction, the new birth experience, adopted to the Father. Jesus, first of all, must be recognized as the Savior, the Redeemer. Then, after we have that wonderful experience of salvation, of regeneration, automatically, God, the Creator, becomes our Heavenly Father. I must remind you that all men everywhere do not have the right to this portion of the Word of God that I am bringing you. Only those who can say, Our Father, and only those who have the right to say, Our Father, and who have this wonderful fellowship this relationship, or those who've had that experience of regeneration in Christ Jesus. That's what you think about. That's scripture. That's truth. And there it is. Lack of any kind in the life of any one of God's precious children is always traceable to the fact that we have been seeking our supply from some secondary source instead of from God. For he is the author, he is the giver of life, and he cannot fail. Give us this day our daily bread. You know, there are thousands of people living today. who think that their supply is coming from certain investments, or from a business, some employer perhaps. Whereas these are merely the channels through which God works. In the final analysis, God is the source. It's just like men and women feeling so secure in themselves, a god under themselves, that they receive all things through their own efforts and their own ability. You say, I work for what I get. Do you? Are you sure? Oh, certainly. There's the physical labor involved, of course. Every man, every woman should work for a living if they're able to. But remember, who gives you the strength in your physical body? Who keeps that old heart of yours beating? If you are a part of humanity, remember you're dependent on the mercy and the grace of God himself for every beat the old heart takes. And you work for a living? You supply your own food? The master of your own life? Stop a minute. What would you do if the sun would cease to shine? If the gentle rains no longer came down? It's his blessing. He's the one who gives life when that little seed is planted. He is still God Almighty, the master of all things. It's like that. The number of possible channels is unlimited. The channels are literally unlimited. But the source is one. There is just one source. The particular channel through which you're getting your supply is quite likely to change. Because change is the law for... But the source is always the same. The source is unchangeable. And the source is God. A man, for instance, thinks of his employment as the source of his income. But for some reason or another, he loses it. Maybe his employer goes out of business. Or he cuts down on the staff. Or something happens. Or maybe he's dismissed. Now, because he believes that his position is the source of his income, the loss of that position naturally means the loss of the income. And so he has to start looking about for another job. And perhaps he has to look a long time. Meanwhile, finding himself without a parent's supply. If such a man had realized that God was his supply and that his job, only the particular channel through which it came, then upon the closing of that channel, he would have to find another and probably a better one. If his belief had been in God, as his supply, then since God cannot change or fail or fade out, his supply would have come from somewhere and would have formed its own channel in whatever was the easiest way. When you look and recognize that God is the source, you will never be defeated under any circumstances. Never. Never. The only person that you and I are dependent upon is God when it comes right down to it. It's God. And when you realize that he is your source, that he is the one who supplies your daily bread, he is the one from whom the supply is given, then no matter what happens to you, you'll not be defeated. You can look up in the face of adversity and say, well, God has something better for me. And you're not going to go around crying around, bawling your eyes out, pitying yourself. Self -pity will never be your master. Why? Because you cannot be defeated if your source of supply is gone. He'll never let you down. Never. That's the reason, you know, the scripture goes on, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. God first. He is your source. Then all of these things. What did Jesus mean by all these things shall be added unto you? He meant the necessary supports of life. Exactly the same thing that Jesus meant here in his prayer. Give us this day our daily bread. In other words, put God first and he'll take care of everything else that concerns you. And I believe that with all my heart. I have to believe it. I have got to believe it because I have experienced it in my own life. It's like that. Oh, this is so thrilling. Why in the world can't we learn how to live? When Jimmy was singing it, his eyes on Sparrow. And I know he watches me all the time. sure. Therefore I say unto you, Jesus said, this comes from the highest authority in heaven and earth. Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life More than meat and the body than remains. You roll and you toss all night long. You're on the very verge of a nervous breakdown. You're taking pills for your frustrations and your hours of despair. Behold the fowls of the air. they sow not neither do they reap that little sparrow outside of my bedroom window isn't worried about a thing not one thing not a thing your heavenly father feedeth them are ye not much better than they and why take ye thought for raiment consider the lilies that field how they grow they toil not neither do they spin and yet jesus said i say unto you that even solomon look what an illustration even solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. And you spent a lifetime worrying. Give us this day our daily bread. That last chapter of 2 Kings and the last verse. And his allowance was a continual allowance given him by the king. A daily rate for every day, all the days of his life. And it makes no difference if he left to be 90. You mean to tell me that you are afraid of... old age? You worry about the future, about getting old? You're worrying about the years that are stepping upon you and leaving you a year older each time you have a birthday. You'd be amazed. at the number of people who fear old age because they are afraid of poverty. What am I going to do when I get to be 75? What will happen to me when I'm 83? What if? What if? And you spend every waking hour afraid, worried. Your mind full of anxiety and fear. Awe. Relax. You have a heavenly father. You're a child of his care and his keeping. Go to bed and sleep at night. Enjoy the food that you have before you. He'll not let you down. He won't let you starve. For he's given his promise. His allowance. And remember from whom that allowance comes. Why, even if the government of the United States goes bankrupt, you still have the Heavenly Father who will never know bankruptcy. And your allowance. will be a continual allowance given you of the king. A daily rate for every day, all the days of your life.
