#starvingorsatisfied #sermon #pauldaugherty #victory #church SERMON NOTES ---ECCLESIASTES 5:10—wanting more leads to never enough --Genesis 25:27- 34----Esau SOLD HIS FUTURE for a BOLW of SOUP...--Either we will CONTROL our DESIRES or our DESIRES will CONTROL us. -And depending which way it goes will affect all of our relationships, our happiness in life, and whether or not we become the person God’s called us to be… -Genesis 29:9-20-----Jacob’s waiting season----WHAT do you DO when you HAVE a DESIRE that CANNOT BE MET? Or has a DUE DATE that requires you to WAIT for it??? How do you deal with your desires??? -Jacob waiting for Rachel… 7 years seemed like days… LEARNING TO WAIT. Brene Brown- “the mantra of our day is never enough”—never enough sleep, opportunity, work, money, love, affirmation, compliments, smiles, hugs, time spent, food, clean house, vacation days, rest, etc… A SATISFIED LIFE requires: 1---PATIENCE – 1 Cor. 13:4 – love is patient...---Passion without patience leads to unnecessary consequences. Passion without patience leads to impulsive decisions. --Song of Solomon 8:4 -- Do not awaken or arouse love before it’s due time. Oh, let me warn you, sisters in Jerusalem: Don't excite love, don't stir it up, until the time is ripe—and you're ready 2---VISION-- -Proverbs 29:18 (ASV)- Without a vision- people cast off restraint! 3--TRUST in GOD’S TIMING-- ---His timing is better than ours. -Don't mistake this season of preparation as a curse- this is not a restriction- not a holding pattern- but a GIFT to enjoy! 4—SELF CONTROL--*Galatians 5:13, 16-17, 19-25 the spirit gives us SELF CONTROL. The war within. -Genesis 25:29-34--- Esau DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO WAIT---- so he traded his soul for a bowl--- the LIE of LUS5---LET GOD SATISFY the DESIRES of your HEART----JESUS wants to HELP us in OUR DESIRES -We have to realize that God gives us the power through Christ to overcome temptation...
