About this sermon

Un-(Known): Embracing Our Identity in God In Acts 17:28, Paul declares, 'For in Him we live and move and have our being.' This passage reminds us that our identity is not found in our failures, struggles, or how others see us. Even in our 'Un-' moments—when we feel unseen, unworthy, unknown, unloved, or without purpose—God fully knows us. Here are five key truths to hold onto when facing identity struggles, followed by five practical steps to embrace our identity in the One who created us. Five "Un-" Points: When You Feel Lost, God Still Knows You 1. Un-Seen (But Fully Seen by God) The world may overlook you, but God never does. 'He is not far from each one of us.' (Acts 17:27) God sees you even when others don’t. 2. Un-Worthy (Yet Made Worthy by Him) Your worth is not defined by your past or what people say about you. 'He gives to all life, breath, and all things.' (Acts 17:25) Your worth is in the One who created you. 3. Un-Known (Yet Deeply Known by God) Even when you feel like no one understands you, God knows every detail of your life. 'For in Him we live and move and have our being.' (Acts 17:28) 4. Un-Loved (Yet Unconditionally Loved) People may fail you, but God's love is constant. 'For we are also His offspring.' (Acts 17:28) You are loved because you belong to Him. 5. Un-Purposeful (Yet Destined for Greatness) God has placed you exactly where you are for a reason. 'He has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.' (Acts 17:26) You were created for a purpose! Five Ways to Embrace Your Identity in God 1. Speak Identity Over Yourself Daily Start each day by declaring who God says you are: 'I am chosen (1 Peter 2:9).' Speak God’s truth over your life to combat self-doubt. 2. Surrender the Lies and Embrace the Truth Identify false beliefs and replace them with Scripture. For example, if you feel 'not enough,' declare Ephesians 2:10—'I am His workmanship, created for a purpose.' 3. Find Your Identity in Relationship, Not Performance God’s love is not earned; it’s given. Rest in your relationship with Him instead of striving for approval. Romans 8:15 reminds us that we are adopted into His family. 4. Surround Yourself with Voices that Speak Life The people around you shape your identity. Stay connected to those who encourage and remind you of who you are in Christ. Proverbs 27:17 says, 'As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.' 5. Walk Boldly in Your Identity, Even When You Don’t Feel It Faith isn’t based on feelings. Step into what God has called you to, even when doubts arise. Trust that He knows you and has a purpose for your life. Final Thought No matter how unseen, unworthy, unknown, unloved, or un-purposeful you may feel, God has already declared the opposite over your life. You are fully KNOWN by Him, deeply loved, and created with purpose. New to Love Story Church?
