- T.D. Jakes Interviews Keion Henderson | It Crushed Me
Apr 2, 2019 • 56 min
Now available! Order Crushing: God Turns Pressure into Power by T.D. Jakes here: http://bit.ly/2Ue5FaD T.D. Jakes’ newest best seller is called Crushing: God Turns Pressure into Power. It tackles the hard questions about a loving God allowing sorrow and suffering. It’s about transforming what was meant for evil into good. In this special “It Crushed Me” interview, Bishop Jakes sits down with Pastor Keion Henderson to discuss his childhood, his relationship with his biological father, his struggles with anger, and how he finally overcame what could have crushed him. Keion Henderson’s present success as a pastor, humanitarian, speaker, and business leader is a far cry from the circumstances of his childhood. He grew up with his single mother and siblings, surviving for many years on minimum wage and government assistance. Unknown to him for the first 12 years of his life, Keion’s biological father pastored a large church down the street and lived comfortably with his wife and their children. This just happened to be the church his family attended and Keion served at. He was 12 when he found out the man he served as an adjutant and admired and secretly wished was his real father – actually was! Next came all the questions – most left unanswered -- the new feelings of rejection, the crushed hopes, and the anger as his father refused to acknowledge Keion as his son. This emotional trauma, however, gave Keion a drive to succeed – perhaps to prove himself worthy to be his son. He struggled with feeling as if everything was his fault and wondering “am I good enough” – one of those unanswered questions. Along the way, Pastor Henderson met Bishop T.D. Jakes and a God-ordained relationship and mentorship was born that continues to this day. Watch this amazing “It Crushed Me” interview with Pastor Keion Henderson and Bishop Jakes, and see how God can restore, renew, and reconcile. And, don’t miss out on T.D. - T.D. Jakes Interviews Charlamagne Tha God
Dec 3, 2018 • 54 min
T.D. Jakes had the joy of uniting with Charlamagne Tha God for a terrific discussion of his book, #ShookOne. This conversation could empower you to conquer the inner forces that thwart your growth. Someone you know needs this. Is it you? Charlamagne Tha God is cohost of The Breakfast Club, a popular nationally-syndicated radio show where Bishop previously appeared as a guest. He also hosts the podcast Brilliant Idiots and, like T.D. Jakes, is a New York Times bestselling author. Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It was his first book followed by Shook One. T.D. Jakes calls Shook One “powerful”, “provocative,” and “transparent.” Its subject matter concentrates on dealing with anxiety, the effects of PTSD, and how mental health issues are often overlooked in today’s culture. Charlamagne speaks about his childhood, the environment, and experiences that contributed to his anxiety and panic attacks, and interestingly, he talks about how finally finding success added to his mental health issues rather than easing them. He discusses how fear was a strong motivator, driving him to succeed, yet as soon as he “arrived”, his anxiety became more “overwhelming.” T.D. Jakes and Charlamagne discuss how Christians often feel that church should be enough to address mental health issues like anxiety and depression, but there is often not a “sole spiritual antidote” for mental illness. In many cases, professional therapy is necessary to address these issues. Charlamagne’s book Shook One is relevant, timely, and honest. Watch the full discussion and be sure to subscribe to the T.D. Jakes channel for more enlightening conversations. Follow Bishop T.D. - T.D. Jakes Sermons: What to Do When Church Don't Work
Nov 2, 2014 • 53 min
T.D. Jakes delivers a special message at The Potter’s House of Fort Worth: “What to Do When Church Don’t Work.” Do you ever feel like you’re living two lives? Do you feel like you live one way on Sunday and another way the rest of the week? It can be frustrating to witness and share the spiritual high of church, then go home and experience a different reality. T.D. Jakes reveals that he’s experienced this divide in his own life. At one point, his ministry was increasing exponentially, but at home, his family was in turmoil. They suffered the death of his mother, the death of his mother-in-law, and two children in crisis. It was overwhelming. T.D. Jakes references Mark 9:17-27, the story of the father with the demon-possessed son. He came to Jesus at his wit’s end, overwhelmed, frustrated that nothing was working – not even Jesus’ disciples could help. T.D. Jakes uses this father’s grief and Jesus’ response as examples of “what to do when church don’t work.” You may feel powerless. You may question your faith. You may blame others. But you’re at the end of your rope, and you just want a way out. Listen as T.D. Jakes gets to the root of the problem and reveals how you can apply the power of faith to take back your life.
